    Completely forgot about this fight.

I am thinking of putting money down on Maidana as he is the clear betting underdog (better than evens) and IMO Alexander sucks.

But just want to get the general opinion before i make my move.

What is everyones opinion on this fight?

I am going with Maidana too, unreal punching power for 140. Great chin and relentless plus with the fight being in st. louis maidana will be extra motivated to make sure he doesent leave it up to the judges

Maidana wins the fight, Alexander wins the decision.

Devon is not that good, I think he's starting to realise it too; that's why we'll see him fight mostly at home, and Maidana won't have the same type of punching power up at 147.

It depends on the judges. Either Maidana does enough to get a decision (regardless of whether he gets it), something like 7-5 with maybe a knockdown, or stops him late. Alexander doesn't do well fighting backwards under extreme pressure, and doesn't punch at shoulder level, leaving him exposed. I think Maidana will cut off the ring effectively, especially since his boxing has been seeing small but fruitful improvements, and rough him up on the inside in spots, but the big punch might come in the center when Alexander pulls back with his hands down, and Maidana times an overhand right over his punch, just like he did with Khan in the tenth; Devon being a southpaw, he just has to make sure he either smothers Devon's punching angle or keep his lead foot on the outside. Even if he neglects to do that, just timing shots in-between Devon's offense will probably hurt him bad, considering Devon's footwork and alignment isn't the best in itself. For Devon to do enough to win, he'll have to do much better than we've seen him as of late and pull some new tricks out of the bag.

I fancied Maidana for this when it was 1st announced, but people are saying its only a 10 rounder which favours Alexander.

That's the thing, I don't see him being capable of this.

I'd also like him alot more if he could throw a punch without the sexual grunt.

This fight's gone under the radar.

I see Alexander coming out with a close decision.

Alexander should win a 10 rounder
but I think a Maidana win is much better for the division.

It will look like Alexander-Matthysse. ( Maidana scores 1-2 KDS. Should win a close but clear decision, But gets robbed in St. Louis. )

If its in St Louis then lightening will strike thrice and Alexander gets another gift. Hope I'm proved wrong obviously.

i think this fight is a hard one to pick a winner from. i think for maidana to win it on points, he needs to win it big, but can he win it big?
you'd think that, with maidana breaking down an undeaten victor ortiz, and giving amir khan life and death for 12 rounds, that he should be able to get the better of devon alexander, but you just dont know.
id say its about 60-40, in maidana's favour, but i dont like the fact its in devon's home town, and he's been given decisions before, in fights he's appeared to lose.
    close call.

Alexander by razor thin decision. Probably of the gift variety.
