Explosive fight with 0 skills being displayed but it would be exciting for however long it lasted. I think Presscott has a sturdy chin.
Maidana has skills... he's actually really good at applying pressure and has a pretty ****ing nice 1-2 when he decides to use it. Prescott also has some skill... well for like 3 or 4 rounds before he gasses and throws arm punches anyway. On topic though, Maidana stops him late in a fun fight, he's just WAY too much for a guy like Prescott, who fades late in about every ****ing fight.
**** off. They may not be Pernell Whitaker, but both each have sets of technical ability and skills that each use to channel their natural talents in order to succeed and achieve what they had. People need to stop bashing fighters without the most aesthetically pleasing styles just because they're too ignorant to know that it takes more than a big punch to succeed and climb through the ranks. That being said, Maidana KO around the 7th, unless Prescott improves dramatically.
Well literally Maidana has some skill, duh. However, Maidana has no skill compared to other top fighters and Prescott who is not exactly a top fighter has even less skills. Maidana couldn't beat Morales who looked like absolute **** vs Cano and was getting hit with tons of shots. Sorry but Maidana has NO SKILLS for a top fighter, he's just all heart and punching power.
No skill = 0. Numbers are not relative. He has a less refined technique than other fighters, but he has more skills than the average fighter. That's why he's hovering right below elite status at 140. If he were all heart and punching power, he would have been stopped long ago by some no-name, as many others have. His timing with the right, his ability to get inside despite poorly developed head-movement, his ability to stalk and corner an opponent, his ability to counter over a vulnerable guard and land bombs between punches, his ability to open opportunities for shots by setting them up with others....these are rough and rugged but effective skills that he possesses, which most other fighters in professional boxing do not have. The same can be said for Prescott. I get that he does not have an ATG skillset, and that his contemporaries have better form. That's not my issue. I'm simply tired of people polarizing fighters between having "NO skills" and "NO defense" and others being "technicians" when the game is much more complicated and beautiful than that, and fighters are much smarter than keyboard warriors give them credit for.
I'm no keyboard warrior my friend. I respect Maidana and he would knock me the **** out in 10 seconds. I guess my stuff is taken to heart, but I said in my second post, COMPARED TO OTHER TOP FIGHTERS. He has very little skill compared to other top fighters, let me put it like that and not 0.
Alright, I'm sorry for my harsh response. Bad week for me. It's ESB; it does ugly things to a man's mind. Thanks for being civil :good
I find it strange that Prescott has been unsuccessful since beating Khan. That was no lucky knockout. He won that fight with precision timing and punching. Looked very sharp. But, that is the only fight I have seen of his, so...:conf
More than 0 skills. If it were Prescott vs. a clone of himself, it would be 0 skills. :yep Maidana has actually made some great strides.
mike alvarado the guy who prescott fights next will smash holes into prescott, alvarado is a much better fighter then ***** maidana. as far as this fight is concerned i think prescott has improved his skills, but as soon as maidana starts piling the pressure i expect prescott to disintegrate he doesnt fight well at a pace, even though he deserved to win, mccloskey showed how bad prescotts stamina is and mccloskey was only landing with pitter patter punches.
