It's a surprise to me more people voted in favour of Maidana. I'd expect a wide Rios vote after his last performance. And I'm the only one who voted for Rios by PTS lol.
:think I just don't know for sure but I do know somebody gets hurt badly in this fight:!::dead :smoke
That is what a lot of people tend to forget or overlook. The man is an entirely different animal. I don't think he will exchange with Rios like people are anticipating. He has an excellent jab and regardless of what people think he has some boxing skills. A little boxing skills is all it took for Alvarado to overcome him. Another thing, Maidana can and will knock him out if he plays Maidana cheap. As for Rios, he does have a body attack that can bring Maidana down, That's the only weakness that has carried over from the Kahn fight because Mayweather hurt him with a body shot. That old saying " Kill the head and the body will die " is Rios blueprint for beating Maidana. They should know each other well being that they are both with Garcia.
I can see many different outcomes in this fight with either man coming out as the victor . I don't see Chino stopping Rios , that's just not going to happen lol If Rios can pull Chino into a brawl , he has the advantage there . But Maidana is simply the better fighter therefore if I had to pick... I would lean slightly towards Maidana to prevail .
Both brawlers, but very different. Chino is more technical now, solid, all around fighter with big power, but fades late. Rios used to be a slow starter, but maybe taking a page outta Cotto's book, had recent success being a fast starter. I think Rios lures Chino into a war, hurt him and rough him up abit, but Chino right now just on a higher level. Chino one of the few that might be able to seriously hurt Rios.
Maidana didn't have to worry about Mayweather's power though. Rios can and will hurt Maidana. So, it is definitely a more dangerous fight.
FOTY candidate, war of attrition. Maidana just has more depth, so he is my pick. Ironically, had Maidana never linked up with Garcia, I might give the edge to Rios. ...which raises the interesting point of which of them would have Grandpa in their corner? :think
I think Chino wouldn't harbor any resentment he'd be totally cool with Robert on Brandon's corner, Chino is such a cool headed guy, the Mayweather circus, big fight pizzazz didn't even phase Chino ffs. Really keeps his emotions in check. Bam Bam tho... :yikes Idk how he'd react without Granpa. I don't know, I think I've seen Rios finally mature recently, he measures himself abit morein what he says now. Gets caught in the heat of the moment type of guy. I want to say from the Pacquiao fight or Chavez fight onto this point Rios has changed for the better.
Maidana's chin is shaky. He's been down or hurt many times in his career. He was hurt badly in his fight against Josesito Lopez. He was down multiple times against Ortiz. His chin is too wide open and sometimes and any good puncher who punches back can catch him good. Rios on the other hand has a solid chin and his punches are more compact. I take Rios by TKO.
