I'd say beating Brook, Peterson, Mikey Garcia, Porter, Danny Garcia, and Ugas suggests a very good record. This resume got him in the top 5 P4P for some.
Top 5 for that? Lmao. Why? What did either Garcia do at 147? Peterson? Come on man. That’s a very weak resume for a supposedly great welterweight.
I wouldn't call him a great but he is/was very good. Those wins are very good wins. Maidana's best win was against Broner lol. All those guys I have listed that Spence beat would beat Broner.
And? The poster I was replying to was using Khan as a reason Spence beats Maidana, Khan and Spence are very different fighters too, and the point I was making is that between the Khan and Floyd fights, Maidana clearly evolved and improved as a boxer AND as a fighter so saying Maidana can't beat Spence because he didn't knock out Khan is kind of irrelevant
Spence via a clear decision. A potential stoppage is possible - but Maidana is very durable & tough af. He'll outbox & outmanouver Maidana. He'll also be the stronger of the two as he's naturally bigger. Maidana's best win is Adrien Broner - a B level spoiler who doesn't let his hands go.
I don't know about that. He took that Crawford ass whoopin like a man. I don't see Madiana putting together a more comprehensive beating than Crawford did.
I think Spence wins a clear decision. Jabs him and rips the body where I think he's vulnerable. Maidana surprised Floyd but Floyd dominated the rematch. I think Spence would win
Crawford was speed and precision, Maidana doesn't have that. He can club from odd angles and I think his over hand right was a problem for Floyd's shoulder roll. Spences southpaw stance and guard are not vulnerable to it like Floyd was sitting on the ropes
I do think Maidana has fight changing power I do think he stung floyd in round 1 more than he let on and it effected the early going plus Floyd got cut. I don't think Spence sits on the ropes trying to counter Maidana
He wasn’t great, exactly. Which is why I pick a Maidana w RG to beat Spence. I saw Maidana beat Floyd who is better than anyone Spence has faced.
Yeah I could have worded that better, cos he did take that beating like a man, although he seemed to lose hope and become uninspired fairly early on which is what I meant by not having the heart. And I acknowledge what other posters have said, I think KOKidd mentioned the shoulder roll and the southpaw stance which are very valid points, but I don't think Spence deals well with pressure when it's put on him, and I think the Maidana that started fast would discourage Spence early on and grind him down. I could be completely wrong of course, we'll never know, but I think the best version of Maidana I've seen breaks the heart of the best version of Spence I've seen. That being said, I think against the vast majority of opponents Spence would perform better due to being more polished, but in a h2h... I favour El Chino
