Maidana vs Torres

    Torres never was that good. Cotto was always vulnerable to handspeed and that's the reason Torres was successful in that one big fight of his, but in reality, other than the KD and some other moments, Cotto decisively beat him. Maidana gets to fast fighters and if you don't have world class defense, you are history. Therefore Torres gets sparked out.

    Torres is not bigger (not sure why you state that as if its a fact) theres no reason to think hes 'stronger', and even if he is a slightly better actual boxer, it wouldnt matter as this would turn into a slugfest, its not like Torres has the skills to outbox Maidana so marginally better skills would be pretty useless.

    Maidana has a better chin, which would be monumental in this matchup, has more heart, and has more hunger to win fights (Torres can have a tendancy to not let his hands go), both of which will matter more then whether Torres is slightly more skilled.

    Torres only advantage in this matchup is his handspeed at 140. He can be a much more explosive fighter then Maidana, and I expect the early rounds to be in Torres's favor, maybe he even drops Maidana early on. He will be going fast and furious and his punches are no joke.

    But Maidana has a good chin, and the toughness/heart to survive. He would start taking the middle rounds as Torres begins to gas, and starts going into his complaicent mode, and soon Torres is getting rocked by Maidanas power shots, and IMO Maidana has him hurt and ready to go by the 9th.

    just imo

    But it would be an exciting matchup at least.... wish Torres would come back to 140 and make some fights with guys like Maidana, Lucas, Judah.

    One fight I always wanted to see between two second tier 140lber of the last years was Urango vs Torres, I would favor Torres in that one but I just want to see it :lol:

    At this point Maidana, but while Torres was a title holder..I'd say Torres.
