Doesn't Maidana need to get past Thurman first?

I don't think he even does that. Pretty sure Thurman will stop him.

Maybe Maidana vs Lopez on the Canelo under card.

Canelo should be pistol whipped if Maidana was the opponent.

Maidana is too small for 147, let alone 154. Add that to the fact that he's past his prime, and not even that good to begin with.

Canelo would make quick work of him, and it would prove NOTHING.

    Maidana deserves the money

    Bradley offered him £50,000

Maidana would still give a better fight than these 'big shots' even though he'd be physically smaller and probaly lose

He'd go all 12 like a badass SOB

    Soon he'll be facing Wladamir

Maidana can't even fight at 147, let alone 154

Everyone wants a shot that can change their lifes just like Bailey against Jones and Maidana has the punch. But I cannot understand how a guy is dominated like he was against alexander, stated that his division was 140 and not 147 and now moves to 154? maybe it's also the smell of money that drives him to step up and take Ortiz, after all canelo can't say anything cause Maidana beat Ortiz clearly.

Maidana is a crazy mofo, which is part of the reason I support him so much.

Good for him, **** it, give it to him. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Maidana managed to gain the weight healthily, and gave Canelo hell :bbb.

Quite smart by Maidana. Its a no lose situation for him. He'd have a punchers chance in the fight (Canelo's chin still yet to be fully tested); if he lost to Canelo (probably would) it wouldn't be as big a setback as to lose to a lesser known opponent. He would get respect and recognition for stepping up to 154 to take on a champ on PPV, he could always drop back to 140 after that fight and still be fights there for him. He'd have more to lose by fighting the likes of Matthyeese next because if he loses (very good chance that he might) then he's suddenly down the rankings in 140 division and fading from the public eye as a PPV draw.

Given golden boy's luck in match making I wouldn't put an upset out of the question.
