Ok. I am a massive Khan fan and have seen a few clips of Maidana after finding out Maidana was his opponent for december.

The thing is all i am hearing is people saying he is a big puncher and not much else.

Please can someone fill me in on how good he actually is. I have checked on on Boxing rec and his record looks impressive but then again most of the guys he has fought IMO have not been too great.

So please fill me in on the below areas:

    • Chin (any Knockdowns or wobbles in his career)
    • Stamina
    • Footwork
    • Defense
    • Handspeed (single punch and Combos)
    • Work rate
    • Weaknesses as a fighter (e.g prone to straight rights)
    • Who trains him
    • Any fights that really stand out and that i should watch (and possible U tube links to these)
    • Best win to date
    • Best opponent you think he has fought
    • Anything else you think i should know.
    • His fave meal (jokes)
Sorry if i am asking to much but just fill in what you can and i would really appreciate it. The bold questions are the ones i really would like answering.

    Thanks people!

He was dropped 3 times by Ortiz, but he still won of course

and he threw about 1 million punches when he fought kotelnik

Seen a handful of his fights, here's what I've seen of him:

Can get caught and knocked down in exchanges, but has very quick recovery skills (a la Marquez).

Thudding power with the left hook and straight right, but often gets sloppy and throws wide arm punches. He did not show much power against Corley because his punching technique was poor.

Great body puncher with a high work rate. He broke down Victor Cayo with a vicious body attack.

Defense is poor, doesn't have good reflexes and relies on determination to get inside and not technique.

Lots of nervous energy, constantly fixing his trunks or breathing deep in the middle of rounds.

All in all, he's a dangerous puncher, but can be outboxed by a fighter of Khan's caliber fairly easily if Khan sticks to his gameplan and fights him from the outside.

Im not a Khan fan. Basically Maidana is his first REAL test. If Khan dispatches him with ease, it cant bring nothing but respect.

Kotelnik was his first test as proven by Kotelnik beating alexander with ease and being very competitive with Maidana.

And Khan absolutely owned and completely shut out Kotelnik from round 1-12.

I think this will be like the paulie fight but worse for maidana i predict a complete khan shut out and total domination of maidana possibly even an early KO.

    Chin like Gamboa/JMM.

Good stamina and energy - very active.

    Good body puncher.

    Faster than expected handspeed.

He has been dropped and hurt before as many fighters were, it's hard not to be in a sport like this. His style is an aggressive one with power, good chin and great stamina. I expect Khan to fully exploit that and give him a boxing lesson all the way to a UD. A stoppage won't surprise me at all. His best win is Ortiz, that's where all the attention came from.

Ali lost to Norton and Frazier

    Foreman crushed Norton and Frazier

    Ali vs Foreman is made

People expect Foreman to win with ease and MANY expect Ali won't make it out of that one alive.

That this even needs spelling out is a damning indictment of boxing fans.
