Pimp, you have to admit that one of Bradleys flaws is that he has a lot of heart, and he fights with his heart... He likes to trade with his opponents.. Can he box circles around Maidina? Absolutly... Will he? I doubt it, because he likes to stand toe-to-toe too much... That's why everyone loves to see him fight..
You're right he does. But I think he will be smart in this fight because he knows Maidana is a slugger and he knows he will have the advantage on the outside.
That's something I think will make it a tougher night's work for Bradley vs Maidana, honestly. Once Bradley got up from the early knockdown off of Holt's perfect shot and got right back in Kendall's grill, Holt's morale sank like an anchor and he was far too passive and reluctant to pull the trigger. Bradley then simply outworked Holt once he got that doubt into his head. Against Maidana, I see the roles of Bradley-Holt being reversed but without Bradley freezing like Holt did. I expect that it's going to be Tim waiting to capitalize on openings and counter while Maidana's the aggressor, with at least some spells of toe-to-toe trading going on along with it.
Maidana is not the wide puncher many would like to believe. He knocked Ortiz down and almost out with a quick, straight one-two right after he himself was down. His head was clear to see Ortiz' gloves opening up for a moment and BANG Victor was down by the accurate 1-2. Marcos also found the overhand right in the later rounds and the talented Ortiz just couldn't get away from it, there's a reason why the fight changed in R5 bigtime, and not because Ortiz was still fighting stupid. Out of "nowhere" came a shot Chino couldn't stop landing. Maidana also was able to time Cayo perfectly to the body in R6 and send him down for 10 minutes with that short sweet perfect bodypunch. He is defensively flawed but still learning, and IMO his offensive IQ is better then being credited for. He actually reminds me a bit of Calzaghe in a way that after often getting hit early, he's able to adapt to the opponents style and find the way to get through their guard. Still, there's much to improve and Bradley should be able outbox and outmaneuver him, but at no point Tim can go brave because he could find himself in big trouble with a dead accurate shot out of nowhere.
Pretty much spot on post. I know this fight will be exciting. Bradley is fun to watch, and Maidana tries to ko you with every punch, and can take a hell of a punch.
Haha he's grown on me man. Obviously I'm a big Gatti fan, and love a fighter that can break your will with sheer determination and guts, and refuses to give up putting it all on the line. I think Bradley has these attributes as well, which is why I also like him. But as an almost contradiciton to all of that, I also hate seeing fighters ruined by one fight, which is why this fight has me excited in different ways. Its going to be a good fight, but its more dangerous than your average fight as well.
Oh and Maidana doesnt have "freakish power". How many shots did he hit Ortiz(who some claim to have a glass jaw) with??? Besides that one right hand that Ortiz walked into he couldnt do it again. How many shot did he hit Cayo with??? And besides that one body shot(which was a great shot dont get me wrong) he could not drop Cayo and he hit him with alot of shots in that fight. Maidana has very good power but he is slow and his punches arent that sharp. He pounds guys down. Not saying he cant stop someone with one shot but at the elite level I doubt he can throw and land that shot.
If he lands on target, both head and body. Bradleys will go down unlikely Bradley's will get back up. MAidana hits way harder than HOLT or peterson.
Thank you. People keep misconstruing the fact that because Holt throws straight punches they are more effective. Not always the case, sometimes akward punches are worse because they can mess with your equilibrium more, and alot of Maidana's most lethal shots are from relatively akward angles, generally making them harder to deal with.
I mean overall, you're right, he doesnt always ko you with one punch. His good power mixed with consistent punch output gets him ko's. But his ko/tko rate is becoming scarily high, and you cant deny that.
