I stated my opinion to main event about the mayweather-marquez card saga & then went onto asking main event about other upcoming fights.
The only response i got was this
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

    Thank you for your feedback.
Main Event management are currently in negotiations for the broadcast rights to Vitali Klitschko vs Chris Arreola and Kelly Pavlik vs Paul Williams.

We hope to confirm both events in the coming weeks.

I wonder if their is a clause in the broadcast rights, where Mainevent have to show the card live? probably not but damn this is dissapointing.

Nope. They will show Pac v Cotto. I think they will say they already had this UFC card booked and since the Floyd/Marquez show was originally scheduled for an earlier date, they can't change it now.

    This one hurts :verysad

Apparently (and inexplicably from where I sit) UFC sells considerably more PPVs than boxing unless it is a Mundine or De La Hoya fight therefore where there is a clash of dates they will go with UFC. Pacquiao v Cotto is same day therefore we will lose out! It is simple economics!

And you have the numbers to back this up Austra?

Any email mentioning numbers to Main Event will be met with silence, trust me.

What over events that have clashed have seen boxing come second?

Tell me what pubs and venues show UFC?

Believe me my brother in boxing, I hope I am wrong. I don't have the numbers but have been informed by a bud who works at Fox who delas with Main Events with some regularity. I hope he is wrong (or full of ****) as well!

In every other instance I can remember, boxing has always won out. The difference this time is, as mentioned previously, I'm assuming ME have already entered into a contract for the UFC or booked satellite time for it.

For some reason, they are only able to run one event per day. I'd guess that is because they can only "unblock" it to subscribers for that amount of time, so if there were two events and someone bought A they'd be able to see B as well for free.

Look at the list of venues that show Boxing on Fox & SKY for PPVs sometimes 100+ which is money that UFC doesn't bring in. To my knowledge ME have never released numbers on any event, the best you'd get out of them is 'it did well' etc. A polite enquiry I sent to them some months ago requesting the ten best sellers for boxing (no numbers asked for) was never answered. The response Kagsy got is the general line they take. They are a private company answerable to themselves.

    Guys,

This issue came up a few weeks ago in reverse. Vic Darchinyan's Abeko title tilt was on the same day as UFC 100, which was kinda of a big deal to the MMA community.

What this move tells you is that they put boxing first, then did a bath on the Darchinyan fight but made a considerable packet from the UFC event.

What this move also tells us is that:

    A) Foxtel is really pretty shitty at being mature enough in its decision making process for PPV: HOWEVER - At least they did reply to emails about the UFC card and no one that I watched with really complained when I told them that Vic was going for a legit world title.

    B) How insane is it that they can't run two PPV's on the same day when you can watch any number of movies on PPV, or that you have to pay EXTRA for Stetanta even though they're going broke. They should be able to fit two PPVs on in a day.

    C) Its a sad day for boxing as economic rationalisation is showing that as a marketable product, the UFC is starting to overtake our favourite sport in Australia.

Maybe Fox are just doing it this way to pay back MMA fan's for not dropping out of the race when it came to buying UFC 100 a day late.

The best thing we can do as fans, unfortunatley - Is make sure we all buy the fight.

Yeah, that'll really ram the message home that we won't stand for their behaviour.

    Evidence?

Yep, profits wouldn't even come close.

Someone suggested that OneHD should take the JMM-floyd fight. Thats not a half-bad suggestion. Someone should write to OneHD and suggest it (not me coz it'd be pointless as Im overseas and wont get to watch it anyways.)
