My response from Main Event- This content is protected This content is protected This content is protected
Bull****! Nothing to do with separate events/individual promoters. If it buys the show or part of it, it does so for lump sum from televising network. It's then up to Main Event to decide better $$$$$ outcome. IMO, it would be better off to package the two. Pubs & Clubs is its main income & not home viewers. Most Pubs & Clubs ain't gonna be open to show Geale's fight.
If that's the case, why do they say this on their website? Pricing for each Pay-Per-View Event is determined by your subscription television operator. MAIN EVENT has no control over the pricing of Pay-Per-View-Events. Don't they do deals with the promoter based on individual numbers?
Main Event (Foxtel subsidiary & ppv telecaster) has no control over Optus & Austar pricing. Optus does it @ same price 'cos it's same optic cable to the house. Austar is satellite affair, which is costly to install to individual houses. In complex where I live, we have both but none (65 units) subscribe to any of them.
Bummer... gonna have to ring around this week to see who is buying. Anyone in Sydney? Was thinking maybe everyone from Syd can give the Alexandria in Redfern a call, they play most fights as well as have late night/early morning events like Superbowl, Oscars live and other major TV events. Maybe if enough of us call them asking if they're playing it they'll consider putting it on?
The Geale event is starting at 6am now, which might increase the chances of some places showing it, but the news I hear is uncertain about Foxsports venues showing this anyway, they are doing the Pac vs Mosley fight. I was in the Alex on Anzac day and saw nothing advertising any upcoming fights. . .but I was a bit blurry. The Alex not currently listed on Fxsports as showing Pac/Mosley. I'm still trying to get out Mothers' Day nonsense and do not know where I will end up seeing either fight. . . .
The Alex is always good for the fights but getting up at 5am to jump in the car and head there on a Sunday morning is a bit keen. I sent main event an e-mail asking could they package both fights for $49.95, I also said i was not happy with my Green v Briggs subscription and was hoping they could keep a good customer or risk losing me to illegal websites to watch future events instead of them :yep. They'll tell me to bugger off of course
The Alex is rarely listed as showing the fight on the Fox Sports fight finder. I don't know how it works but multiple times I've told the manager there he needs to get it listed somehow. Anyway, I'll call them tomorrow and find out and let you all know. If it's on, maybe meet yas down there
Thats a good question in the light of last weeks fights :-( Normally the Germans put on a good card so I'm going to say yes without having a clue of the real answer
