Hi Anton, Thanks for getting in contact. Due to the early start time of Geale v Sylvester this event is a residential exclusive and wont be available in any licensed venues. As also have Pacquiao v Mosley on the same day it means that we cannot show a replay of Geale v Sylvester until Tuesday May 10th(Pacquiao Mosley will Encore on Monday May 9th).
Geales luck couldnt get any worse, i just hope he can pull it off and brings the title home. Its such a disgrace that the media is not getting behind Geale as much as they do for Green/Mundine, im not the first to say it and it would appear that its falling on deaf ears. I guess Geale dont trash talk enough for the networks to prop him up and sell him like they do for the other two queens of AUS boxing.
i've said it before, he needs to have a fling with lara bingle, or align himself to something away from boxing that gets news-time. just a suggestion anyway
It'll also show Murat/Griffin & Gutknecht/McIntosh http://boxrec.com/schedule.php?country=&division=&title=&tv=AUMAEV&SUBMIT=Go Might also show couple of pre-recorded early fights if there's delay with Geale's fight
Your onto something :good Wont mention names but one boxer in particular wasnt getting to many high profile AUS fights, the problem.. he was to farkn nice to people. Never called anyone out and never got in anyones face etc, i think that the same problem might be there for Geale in terms of public appeal in AUS and he doesnt have any arch nemisis like Danny Does with Mundine. I hope he comes back with the IBF title, gives Mundine a crack and knocks Mundine out, then hopefully DannyWeight comes down and meets Geale half way and Geale does the same to DannyBoy. Maby then the public and the media will finally get behind him.
If Geale wins this fight in Germany, then he will fight top notch fighters in the US and other countries - and will be well on his way to being the no1 ranked fighter in the division. The fact that he hasnt got national support probably wouldnt phase Geale all that much, because if he can KO Sylvester in Germany and win, then the reward will mean a whole new set of fans and potential overseas well ranked and fan friendly opponents. Geale has the skillset and tools to not only win this fight, but also to beat anyone in this division.
I have a real good feeling going into Sunday's fight. I think Geale can take this all the way and fight in the states this time next year against someone like Martinez
It wouldn't shock me to see Sylvester drop Geale early on as Daniel has been down quite a bit in his career to date but never hurt. Looking forward to see if Geale will go to the body early on, if he does he may make Sylvester drop his guard and then go upstairs. I noticed from the Barbosa fight on that Geale is feinting with his lead left a lot more and finding a lot of openings. That is crucial against the tight guard of Sylvester. Should be a great fight, i think Geale will pull it off but he is gonna have to put in a huge effort to do so.
I feel sorry for Geale as the publicity for his fight hasn't been great however the Media is driven by the want of the people want, I am sure if geale was selling papers and affecting ratings we would see alot more of him, Boxing over the past 10 years has really revolved around Rugby League, an ex Players get the publicity as Rugby league has the biggest following in NSW and QLD I would think that an AFL player getting into the ring would do likewise because they already have a fan base, SBW will do big numbers as he is a popular Union player in NZ which is a licence to print money
if geale want nice paydays he needs to get his face in the media. just winning this week is not enough. u just need to sell yourself, its as simple as that.
I think Geale has the tools 4 sure. Sylvester gets a lot of exposure over here and he's a pretty average fighter.
