I have been asking some of my friends about what they make of the Mayweather and Pac situation. Now all of them are boxing fans to some degree, they pay for the PPV's and understand the principles of the sport. They've even heard of some of the lesser known fighters and have a rudimentary understanding of the politics of the sport.

After asking them their perception of the Mayweather Pac drugs incident the view seems to be incredibly one sided.

No-one knows, or cares, about the NSAC drugs protocal, or the mediation, or Pac's superstitious fear of bloodletting. All they know is that there was gonna be a fight, but Pac refused to accept random blood testing prior to it, and now there isn't. That's it. The broad strokes.

I think in the minds of all but the most hardcore boxing fans, Pac will be remembering as a cheater. Which is a shame, because there's no real evidence of this, but once you've ducked a blood test then that seems to be enough to be damned.

This absolutely hammers Manny's legacy, I think he should accept the demands of Team Mayweather and get the fight on. After all, if he is clean, what does he have to hide?

But the ones who write the boxing books, the boxing magazines, the articles, etc. will know better.

And all anyone will need to do is buy a Pacquiao career set and read a little bit on the topic to know that PAcquiao was an amazing fighter and that he passed the same tests as everyone else did many many times.

That is the reason why Pac is suing them. His name is defamed. It may look bad now but as long as there are no proof that Pac took any of these banned drugs or anyone stepped forward to claim Pac took these drugs, his legacy is secured.

Oh, there is NO question about that. NONE. Pacquiao's reputation will never fully recover. This isn't about feuding fanboys anymore. Pacquiao's reputation has taken an unbelievable hit in the mainstream sports world, and in the minds of millions of boxing fans worldwide. His ONLY chance at burying this controversy was to take the Mayweather fight. This will never end now. Not ever.

This is true, but c'mon we all know that the standard testing procedure in boxing is woefully inadaquet. World champions like Holyfield, Mosley and Jones Jr got away with juicing for years and passed the tests. There's still a lot of doubt hanging over Manny Pac in my eyes, and believe me I'm no hater, I try and be as objective as possible I hope the people of ESB know this.

Which could turn out to be an EPIC disaster if Pacquiao somehow loses that suit. Horrible, awful risk to take. Manny Pacquiao has everything to lose with that case. If it doesn't go his way it's going to reignite this situation all over again, ten fold.

Sadly I think you are right here. This is certainly the way it seems to be going. The only place I've seen it reported otherwise is on Ben Dirs blog on the BBC comments section, and that's hardly a big hitter. He's a terrible journalist there's a hundred people on this site with better insight and writing ability than him.

Dont interpret this as me being a Pac hater, coz I'm just not, like I said I've never been one of those partizan nuthuggers (except for the occasional British fighter when I get carried away with patriotism lol) and I have 1,600 posts to back that up. I just think that the way the history books will record this will be absolutely devastating for Manny Pac.

A poll by ESPN is more reliable. Besides the TS is a known joy boy hence the content of his post is expected.

Btw, below is a link to a Yahoo sports article. Read the comments below and see who is being criticized for the fight not being made.

Here is an article in ESPN about the bout. Read the comments as well. Almost everyone is criticizing Floyd for the fight not happening.

As I actually personally believe Pac is not on PEDs, I agree its the fact that he has been "monumentally mismanaged, misadvised, mishandled and misinformed".

Not fighting Mayweather will forever put a black-eye on Manny's legacy. After the past 2 or so months of bull ****.

you've put forward a pretty good example. Mosley and Jones were both caught using PEDs yet noone thinks Jones was juicing when he beat Ruiz, and noone thinks Mosley was juicing when he beat Collazo. Despite the fact that they were submitted to the same drug tests as Pac has been many many times.

So if Pac is looked back as being in doubt of steroids use despite having a clean slate, just cause of the way he handled his negotiations with Mayweather, while other fighters who have a history of steroids abuse are no longer in doubt, even though they are passing the exact same drug tests as Pac, then something just doesn't add up.
