He needed to stay up at heavyweight, as people have said. I think cruiserweight is too deep, but he's extremely effective at heavyweight. I wish he would've stayed there.
To be fair, two of them found a very easy way-short cut for a title. Resume-wise one of them is barely a top5, the other one is not top10.
Three guys with a combined 81-20 record, the last before he got the shot at Holyfield being a 19-0 Richard Jackson, who previously had been Texan state cruiserweight titlist before himself moving up to HW and running up a 4-0 (3) record there.
He has been flying under everyone's radar for a very long time.Well, come to think of it he still is IMO.Just a handful of hardcore fans have ever heard his name or seen some of his fights. Briedis is a very capable fighter who has pop in his fists and whose record isnt that bad at all. I guess his nationality and the limited bucks his promoter can provide will force him to take risky fights on foreign soil which will lead to his downfall. He could really go quite far with a powerful western promoter and a western tv channel backing him. I was flabbergusted to see how he beat Charr.I was also quite impressed to see how he beat Abdoul, the cruiser weight's eternal gatekeeper. Sure,he is no Usyk, but ...............................I would probably bet some bucks on him if he fought someone like-lets say a healthy Hernandez,Arlsan or Glowaki.
