Mairis Briedis: A Cold Wind Blows Across The Glacial Baltic Sea-The Latvian Bomber.

Mairis Briedis is a 31 year old 6'1 Cruiserweight with a 20-0 17 KO's record. He was born in and raised in Riga, Latvia a former Soviet Socialist Republic, he is the current IBA Cruiserweight Champion. This Latvian sensation has been dropping guys left and right, he's an all action pressure fighter who can also counter punch as well and if his chin which seems pretty good holds up, he may have quite a bit of success at CW and possibly eye a move to HW in the future, personally I think he's better suited for HW, he recently moved up and took a match against Charr, which many thought would be a mistake, but it proved to be a glowing success, since he KO'd him far more impressively than Povetkin laying him out Manny Pacquiao KO6 style. although sadly 6'1 is now considered short for the division, I still think he can make an impact. He's also fairly good looking which will help in his marketability. Check out the Man from Riga as he unleashes his bombs.

Briedis will be facing Manuel Charr on August 22nd.

 

He recently inked a deal with Main Events and is making his move to Heavyweight.

 

Briedis may be biting off more than he can chew and will take a huge blow to his career, but a win will get him the attention he deserves. As far as Charr goes he stands to lose a lot, after all it'll be to a blown up Cruiser that not many know of.
