Briedis wasn’t particularly susceptible to walking into the southpaw straight left, he didn’t make himself predictable for it, could he take Sanders’ left hand away and beat him? Can’t see sanders outboxing him since Briedis is quicker and more versatile, I see his only chance to win is by landing the straight left, but Briedis could change levels, vary his attacks and feint to throw off that timing. Who wins this matchup?
Breidis was actually slower than Sanders and had about 1/3rd of the power. Sanders either takes him out early or makes him go into survival mode.
He was very sneaky with the left hand, he’d hide it well and create an illusion that they were out of range, make them confident and because they were walking forward and committing, he’d sneak that left hand in, because they were walking forward, it took less time for the left hand to land from when he threw it, creating the illusion of speed, I’m not saying he didn’t have fast hands, but not as much actual handspeed as Briedis, Sanders’ left hand was still his quickest punch, but his combinations, jab or feet weren’t as fast as Briedis’.
I have seen Sanders in person. His feet and especially his hands were like lightning, even telegraphing.
I think this is another Briedis win. As strong and fast handed as Sanders was, I don't see him knocking out Mairis in one, and I don't see him doing anything good past there, probably a late TKO for the Latvian.
Sanders used to annihilate the little guys. Briedis is a step above most but I don't fancy his chances exchanging with Sanders, gotta be honest. Small fighters that lasted against Corrie tended to be boxer types with an eye on defence and survival, not dudes that were looking to lay on the hurt themselves.
Aside from Wlad, Vitali & Rahman, which Sanders fights should I watch, mate? As in, his best fights &/or best performance.
