    Based on tonight's performance - absolutely. But Mairis chose to fight Perez for a reason.

    True. Part of me just wants to believe that he'll rise to an occasion and show what he's got against Usyk. The other part has a more realistic views :D

    I really now wish it was 2 and 3 in one half of the draw, so we could see a more even Briedis-Gassiev fight before the winner getting Usyk. Briedis has physical assets to possibly do well against Usyk, but Usyk's iq and tactics advantage make it hard to see Briedis winning.

    Horrible fight. Briedis is better than he looked tonight. He looked nervous to me like the occasion might have got to him and he even sounded it when someone shoved a mic in his face when he arrived at the venue. They asked him how he was feeling and he seemed to take a few seconds to answer and when he did he said that he'll feel better when he gets gloved up and his kit on (I'm paraphrasing).

    I don't think he's too comfortable facing southpaws either. I think Perez is only the second one he's fought - the other one is a can who has been stopped in 22 of his 23 losses and he didn't make it out of round 2.

    Briedis was doing a lot of spoiling (ala Ward fire off a shot and then fall in and grab a hold of your opponent) and the ref should've deducted a point much sooner and Briedis deserved to have another one deducted too IMO. Perez is a talented fighter and he fought well, but I had Briedis sweeping pretty much everything from round 5 or 6. Once Briedis started to settle down a bit he was able to use his superior footwork, stepping to the side and having Perez lunging in and missing.

    Reading some of these comments towards Briedis through the RBR is too funny :D I bet a lot of turds who badmouth Briedis style are Ward fans.

    Too bad this wasn’t the ref in the Kovalev fights huh?! :)

    I knew including Perez was going to be a disaster. He has had boring ugly fights before yet some of you dopes are blaming Breidis who has never had a dull fight. Glowacki would have been so much more entertaining compared to Perez.
