Mairis Briedis vs Jai Opetaia April 6th in Australia

Jai has been one of our best talents for years.

Had an amazing am career as a teenager.

But he has been very unlucky with injuries and has struggled to get fights that would have helped his growth.

This is an enormous step up for him. He has never really shared the ring with a world class opponent as a pro.

 

Hoping Breidis has enough left!

I believe Opetaia is is #1 contender.

Breidis ducks no man. When he couldn't get a good fight at cruiser, he jumped to heavy and fought Charr. He fought Usyk an everyone else they put in front of him.

I am actually big on Okolie, but let's not jump the gun here. Okolie is at the beggining, and no one is ducking him.

 

I think Briedis will have more than enough for Opetaia. Good fight for Aussie boxing though.

 

Hopefully for Briedis sake the fight is not in Queensland

 

Lonegran mentioned how tough the negotiations were.
Sounds like Breidis management put in several stipulations to look after their charge.

Good chance that means they bring in international officials I'd say. Then again Lonergan is a bit if a ***** so his idea of "tough negotiations" might differ from many.

I think a big factor in this match will be the ref. Because Jai will struggle massively with the experience and strength of Breidis up close. If Maris can maul him and rough him up Jai will have an especially hard time.

 

Maris was a beast at one point, hope jai can pull it off, depends if briedis comes to fight or not, interesting fight, respect to his team for stepping up.

 

Hope he just focuses on this fight instead of his cringe inducing pursuit of Jake Paul.

Why isn't Briedis at heavy already? I hear he's quite capable of ruining almost everyone there. And Tyson Fury is said to tremble at the mere thought of being challenged by Mighty Mairis.
