That jaw looks really bad. Will sideline him for a long time, if ever.

I know I will be accused of post fight exuberance here but this wasn't just good it was historically good.

Terrible commentating and camerawork hold it back a bit but the in-ring action surpasses anything else this year. It might be my favorite fight since January 1st 2020.

Briedis has clearly lost a step since almost walking on water but this opponent is no longer a nobody.

They let him go for glory and go he did.

What was seriously ****ed was not having both guys immediately in the ambulance post fight. When Opetaia couldn't form a single word in the post fight interview that should be way more clue than you need. Then they had him hanging out in the dressing room for how much longer? Was it an hour? The man can't talk! What is he doing back there?

And as far as stopping the fight, they could have stopped it in either direction! Briedis clearly had something more than your average bloody nose. He looked like the Kool Aid Man after a brick wall took its revenge for 9 rounds!

I couldn't believe what I was watching. A legendary show of toughness from both.

I was back there with him. To answer your question, his injury, though horrific wasn't deemed life threatening. He was required to provide a post fight sample for anti doping.

Hey thanks for chiming in, cool to have first hand info!

I just think that jaw should have been supported first and probably get him some fluids, even if that affected the sample.

Do you think there's a policy issue there?

I have to say on TV it looked shocking that he was made to wait on site, the fact that he wasn't expressing agony like a normal person with a broken bone made it only more concerning. Of course things on TV look different.

Well I suppose anti doping is a very serious issue these days. As it turns out, he was unable to supply anyway, due to dehydration. But that's at the decision of the anti doping official.

Apparently the cucks at Latvia didn't air the fight because of Briedis' stance for the war in Ukraine - he is neutral about it and thus was cancelled.

Fight of the year candidate. I thought Breidis deserved at least a draw. But congratulations to new champ tough close fight. Wow
