Can Briedis use his footwork and speed to jab and get in and and out and stay away from the power and superior strength of Mercer to win a decision? Who wins this matchup?
I mean, it depends which Mercer showed up. Bad Ray Mercer gets rolled, and no, that was not an occasional thing for him to be in there. The guy who nearly lost to Ocassio, did lose to Ferguson, got a gift against decrepit Tim Witherspoon, and lost to post-40, rope-a-doping Holmes would lose almost every round. The more rare Mercer, the guy who gave Lewis fits, would do considerably better.
Mercer at his best is an absolute beast. He was very physical and had a pulverising jab. As much as I like Breidis, I like Ray more in this one. Prime Ray damn near beat Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield.
