Major Fights, Major Disappointment

    Fury - Usyk - No
    Inoue - Fulton - No
    Teraji - Gonzalez - No
    Ortiz - Stanionis - No
    Charlo - Tszyu - No
    Taylor - Serrano - No

    There are probably some other fights I'm missing. The first four or five months of this year set up to be fantastic for boxing fans. Then, one by one, the fights were either cancelled or postponed.

    I know there are still some really good fights coming up but this is very disappointing. Sometimes I just hate boxing.

    At least Fulton-Inoue has been rescheduled, but there are definitely a lot of great fights that have been left on the table. To say boxing has seen better days is an understatement.

    Spence vs Crawford isn't happening either

    But we live in the best day & age to be fight fans! What did they do before TV came along? One actually attend every fight they wanted to see! And what about the access we have to important fight/fighters info/results immediately? It wasn't all that long ago when we were dependent upon the latest issues of boxing mags to keep us informed & up to speed and it took a month to get it!

    Just as athletes have improved over the years (yes that includes boxers - they are bigger stronger faster more power more stamina more skill just like all athletes), so has boxing itself improved!

    We get to see more and better fights nowadays than ever, from all over the world, not just the US. And y'all are complaining that the fight scene is getting worse lol. Sure, we've had a cancelation here and a broken down negotiation there, but those are the exceptions, not the norm! We have loads and loads of great fights coming up, with young modern stars to watch - who needs all those old, supposedly great fighters?

    For my $$$, you can keep Sugar Shane Mosley, Sugar Ray Leonard, Sugar Ray Robinson or any old fighter named Sugar or not - give me Canelo any day!

    Besides Fury/Usyk which won't happen, all of the listed fights ARE gonna happen at some point.

    It's not been the best 12-18 months in boxing but I prefer to look forward to what IS on as to dwell on what we've missed out on.

    I know. My post mentioned that some of the fights were only postponed and not cancelled. I was just talking about how good the first four or five months of this year were shaping up and how it didn't turn out that way.

    Agreed. I still expect this to be a year filled with goof matchups.

    The big fights aren’t happening, but so far all the random matchups that have happened this year have been great fights, can’t complain.
