Obviously I disagree with the title of this thread but with the inactivity of the current belt holders, particularly unified champions like Canelo, Usyk, Beterbiev, Charlo etc, it’s getting almost impossible for many to get a shot. In Britain, unless there’s a current British World Champion involved or a Bob Arum promoted champ on a Frank Warren show, it appears to be impossible to get a shot. I’m sure this applies around the world. How do you get a shot at a PBC champ unless you join the PBC and their champions are probably the most inactive? The answer must be that the alphabet organisations have to get more willing to force mandatories and strip inactive fighters but that only happens if you’re Joe Cordina. Josh Kelly ( apologies if this post is too British centric ) is a future world champion according to Sauerland but unless Charlo vacates, he’ll be waiting for ever or, more likely, he’ll pick up an IBO and settle for that and he’s the WBO No. 1. Tim Tszyu has been waiting longer than the old Queen was on the throne. Inactivity is killing this sport.
