His win over ken buchanon means nothing? What about his wins over hall of fame welterweights like cuevas and palomino. At least he beat champs at 154 and 160 like davey moore and iran barkley, i mean which bigger fighters did benny leonard or joe gans beat? Put benny against hearns, leonard and hagler, lets see how he does.

I agree with the dude who said Riddick Bowe if he is considered a legend, and SRR is greatly overrated as a

But ill pick one of my own,
Jack Johnson - Was KO'd by Willard "the hot sun in his eyes excuse doesnt work", his best win is against an inexperienced Jefferies and he mainly built a career with the "Dempsey is ducking me" bull****.

Inexperienced Jeffries? First time I have heard that; hell it was Jim's last fight, thus he had never had so much experience as he had going into the Johnson bout....;)

Yeah thats an interesting take on that one. But I'll say that to me that win isn't as impressive as it should be as Jefferies was coming off of something like a four year lay off or something, was pretty old and wasn't in that great of shape. And didn't he draw with the light heavey wieght champ in his first defense or something?

I think he meant his 5 yr lay-off. I concur though that he is over-rated. Its what he was, not who he was that makes folks turn to goo. Like Barack Obama.

nope I'd agree. The Tyson lost to the first good fighter he faced thing was pretty stupid.

Every non-modern fighter(modern as in post-60's), is overrated in regards to fantasy match ups.

Harry Greb wouldn't even beat John Duddy.

If Dempsey walked up to anyone on this forum in his twenties, He'd **** them up. Hell if he walked up to any Hvy weight fighter around today, he'd **** them up.

Frazier. He is a sentimental favorite, because of his size, his style and courage and how Ali taunted him. But he had a very short prime. If we consider Ali, Foreman and Norton the three best fighters during Frazier's era, he lost four out of five to two of them and never met the third one. Yes. a win over Ali is great, but it's one fight. Norton has a win over Ali and should have had a second one in their 3rd fight.

Holyfield. Another fighter who is rated highly because of his great heart. But fighters who need to show that much heart simply aren't dominant, like Lennox Lewis or Ali who cruised to many of their wins against good opposition. Holyfield lost four out of five against Lewis and Bowe (unless Lewis 1 was really a draw) and his sole win against Bowe was one point on one scorecard and with Bowe's pregnant wife collapsing. Holyfield is 1-1-1 with Ruiz and 1-1 with Moorer, so against four fighters he failed to get positive record over multiple fights.

Dempsey - His record really isnt any better than tyson's yet rated so much higher on ATG status. Atleast Tyson fought everyone, Dempsey avoided a whole segment of fighters.

i wouldnt call calzaghe a legend but alot of people do
and i think he is greatly overrated what his done with all his defences and being undefeated is good ,but only if u look at it from the outside the closer u look into his career u see his level of opposition is just to low
