A couple posters in the other HOF thread mentioned Hatton. I recall reading a couple of pieces by prominent boxing writers that had Hatton and Hall of Fame in the same sentence. I like Hatton, but I just don't see it.

fame (it's not hall of greatness for some reason) and money. popularity goes a LONG way to getting there. think about all the great fighters who weren't draws. it tooks years for many of them to reach the hall

very good fighter+hugely popular=ticket to IBHOF

Unless you can get in there for being a 'nice guy'

However if his promotional company kicks off, he could get in for 'contribution to the sport'

Well...maybe the British hall of fame...but he should be left out of any hall of fame talk, if for nothing else, because he said he was winning the second round of the Pacquiao fight by a "country mile".

    He's very famous.
His career record is better than some other people that are in there.

    What more do you want?

    Ricky Hatton 45-2

    Key Wins
-Beat Kostya Tszyu for 140 lineal title, ABC belt(tszyu p4p #3)
    -Beat Castillo(who at the time was p4p #8,number 1 contender at 140)
-Beat Malignaggi, only man to stop paulie (ranked number 1 conteder former world champ)
-Beat Collazo at 147 for a ABC belt
-Beat Urango(top 10 ranking at 140 now IBF world champ)
-Beat Maussa for a 140 ABC belt

Notables: Was lineal 140 champ for 4 years, 2 division world champ, was ranked on the P4P list for 2-3 years....has one of most unique followings in the history of boxing, and was one of the best ambassador's for british boxing in the history of the sport...

    Key Loses
-Floyd Mayweather P4P #1 at the time
-Manny Pacquiao P4P #1 at the time

Hatton was at first overrated, now I think he is getting underrated for his era....Hatton is a Hall of famer, there is people in there that have a worse resume then hatton....

No offense, but if gatti gets in who is not even close to the accomplishments of hatton, then hatton will most likely get in...

It's not just based on how good a fighter you are, which is how Hatton can get in. Look at Barry McGuigan - Good fighter, not as good as Hatton and did less, but he is deservedly in there. Why? Because if the impact he had as a boxer, which was huge. Rate him or not, Hatton brought 30,000 fans, the majority of whom, didn't have a ticket, to be there for his fight against Mayweather. That figure is astonishing. Hatton has sold 3m PPV's and is a mainstream name.
