where I lived in the Midwest, a fledgling tv station subscribed to weekly shows from the Forum and the Olympic, so I gained an appreciation and became a huge fan of west coast boxing. Halimi would appear on Forum shows. Many times on the undercard of Ruben Olivares bouts, as they were stablemates. And many times Halimi would get airtime. A few years back I asked Ruben if he remembered Halimi. He said, “Oh yeah. Very fast and very pretty.”

Man, I wish!. Every so often I’ll see footage show up on another fight from the same card and figure its out there somewhere but nothing has appeared. To tell you what a fan of his I was. Many years ago his fight with Superfly Sandoval was going to be televised. Now, he was way shopworn by this time, and I refused to watch it. Nothing worse than seeing one of your favorites - who is fighting on memory - being beaten up by the next generation of youthful contenders

It’s been a while, but I recall it as Olivares-ish. Not as heavy a dig but the speed was the sort that rakes you up and down and he was always in your face. If that Salavarria fight was ever uploaded, I would be one happy camper.
