Khans flaws were further exposed during his last fight - by a super featherweight who was past his prime and lost his last attempt at British Title level. No disrespect to Gomez but if he can knock Khan down and hurt him to the body a genuine lightweight like Murray who is younger, fresher and does possess some power has a decent chance in my opinion.
khan&warren wont fight murray, they'll fight a no name,no punch euro bum next,on the form of last night murray stops khan in 8 or 9,murray v thaxton now theres a fight that should be made, the british no 1&no 2
Personally I think that Khan would beat Murray quite handily. Murray looked exceptional last night and I like his attitude- plus the fact he hasn't had the low key SN 45-0 build up makes me like him even more. Murray needs to be on his opponents toes to beat them and Khan is too fast. He may even get him out of there early but Murrays far to dangerous and FW won't have the balls for it.
Although Khan is fast and its his main asset (he overwhelms his opponents with speed rather than power) it didn't prevent Gomez, who is much older, slower and was stepping up in weight, from scoring a knockdown and hurting him to the body. Was interesting after their bout when Gomez spoke of Khans vulnerabilities and Murray's chances - how Murray was a big lightweight and puncher and if he hits him he might go.... Only one way to find out but I doubt this fight will get made anytime soon if at all.
true but knowing warren&khan those 4 fights will be against feather fisted nobodys so he still wont be ready.
Think Murray's too flat footed to beat Khan and lacks any movement to get out the way of the quicker Khan's shots. Murray has only just stepped It up while Khan won the commonwealth In 2 years as a pro while Murray's been pro for 5 years.
Personally, I don't feel Warren is doing Khan any favours by ducking the leading domestic contenders - because by fighting them he would be exposed to different styles of opponent. Up to press he has had upright, boxer types rather than brawlers (Murray) awkward *******s (Thaxton) and punchers (Romanov - ok not British) - when the inevitable step up does come he will be exposed in brutal fashion, the defence isnt good enough and he cant FIGHT for toffee. He is a good boxer, but sometimes that just isn't enough. I have given Murray plenty of stick on here but I was impressed not just with his performance, but his fitness as well. If he can drag Khan into a war I would fancy him to win handily, if he can't I see Khan winning a wide UD or late stoppage after grinding John down.
Fair point - but to me the Commonwealth title is close to becoming meaningless. This is because pretty much any numpty can be found from God knows where to challenge for a title - and the tiresome bandwagon can continue. It did with Mitchell, until he fought Johanneson. At least with the British title you are guaranteed to be getting decent defences under your belt, especially at lightweight, a division which is strong currently.
Well, if he can cut the ring down on Fewkes and the Spaniard Melero, then he'll have a good chance vs Khan. Hopefully Murray defends vs Fewkes next year and challenges Melero (who will beat Thaxton for sure) for the EBU belt. Murray's not been given a good fight since last Nov (until last night). His development has been arrested. He's going to get better & better with British title defences. So many good fights for him now, and he doesn't have to go looking for good comp now. Murray could do with practise against movers, because he's flat footed. Would like to see him in 12 rounders vs fleet footed opponents. It won't be easy, but he can do it, and it will prepare him for Khan. With 12 rds I'm confident he can break Fewkes down in what would be a great fight. if he does this, it will prepare him for further tests. Personally, I think just as Murray needs rounds vs good movers, Khan needs to up his game vs infighters. They should fight each other in a few years, when they're about 25/26 yo at their peaks.
I think to be honest everything Murray does well, Khan does better, and everything Khan does poorley, Murray does worse. Khan within 6 rounds.
That's close to nonsense. Khan doesn't fight inside, for one. Get Murray the right fights, and he'll beat Khan down in a hard, drawn out fight.
