martinez is a great boxer and a cool guy. he seems intelligent enough to not be overwhelmed by the lime light involved with fighting floyd, but it is floyd himself that is simply too much for martinez. martinez isn't a devastating puncher, and this will allow floyd to circle to his right, (martinez's left) and set up his lead right hand while ducking under martinez counter left. i also expect floyd to switch from a shoulder roll defense, to a high guard in the middle rounds before going back to the shoulder roll in the late rounds after his skill and precision takes over the fight. martinez will be competitive, and will suffer a unanimous competitive loss.

Same way I feel. He definitely has a lot of the tools you need to compete with Mayweather. A jab, speed, movement and in this case size and power advantage.

The way I see it Mayweather gets criticised ridiculously, but also brings this tidal wave of disapproval on himself.

However, beating Martinez up at 160 would simply be a unbelievable achievement.

Martinez is bigger, more powerful (should be atleast) and the guy obviously has very genuine world class skills.

I'm just pondering whether this would quieten down the guys who feel he dodges big challenges.

DOPE - I forgot about Pacquiao.

Martinez is a tough fight. But he is there to be hit and with the most accurate puncher in the game, he will get out pointed.. He is not accurate enought and his puncher are to wide to hit floyd..

Exactly and those are the exact reason as to why I give him a good shot at beating PBF.

It would be a great fight, but i still think floyd wins. Sergio takes rounds off. Not to mention he is often off balance. If he didn't have balance issues he wouldn't have been dropped against williams & would have won that fight (although i thought he still won).

we all know Mayweather isn't going up to 154 let alone 160 to fight Sergio Martinez.

If he does take the fight..nothing but respect.

Mayweather would deserve a standing ovation for fighting Martinez IMO... this is a fight that he doesnt need to take really, and poses huge threat. In fact, 160 and down, i think Martinez is the most dangerous guy to Mayweather, even more so then Pac, and i actually think i would be favoring Martinez to beat Jr.

I dont think this is a fight that will ever happen, but if it did? Wow.....
Mayweather is always saying hes in a lose lose situation, and nothing he does is 'good enough', but believe me, if he were to even fight martinez, let alone win.... it would turn heads, and shock the boxing world in a way that Mayweather cant really do often considering hes always the heavy favorite and didnt fight a few of the guys the boxing world wanted, this would be a great way for Mayweather to have his moment of shocking the world, which i think every great fighter should have.

Although im doubtful he will.... i sure hope he does.

Won't happen at 160. The WBO already stripped Martinez because he wants to fight at 154. The WBC will probably follow suit in the next few days.

At 154 Floyd handles Martinez pretty well. Martinez has one good win in his career. A win over the absolute worst version of Pavlik that ever put gloves on. Floyd takes this easier than many think.

You're just pathetic man, seriously. Everyone could tell Martinez's style was all wrong for Pavlik - anyone who didn't have Pavlik's balls in there mouth. Martinez made him look like dog****. He's just plain average and has no plan B.
