Will Marquez get Floyd more recognition? No

Is Marquez a bigger draw that will present a better payday? No

Will Marquez be better for Floyd's legacy? No

Will the Marquez fight be for a championship? No

Is Marquez coming off a more impressive win than Mosley? No

So seriously give me one good reason why Marquez makes more sense as an opponent than Mosley.

    risk-reward.

floyd would be getting more cut against jmm compared to mosley while having the lesser risk. jmm is the better fighter right now but his size makes him less of a threat to floyd than shane.

    1. you have to give Mayweather some props on beating JMM, is anybody really gonna say JMM is a cupcake or and easy fight?? not even including a 18 month layoff.

    2. Yes Marquez is a bigger draw because he has a whole country

3.Marquez will add another HOF to Mayweathers resume.

    4. no the fight isnt for a belt

    5. Marquez isnr coming off a more impresive win but he did KO 2 guys that never been KO before and are preety good

    6. THE REAL REASON why JMM is a better oppenet is because hes coming off a 18 month lay off and hes probably gonna fight Pacquiao next. so since Mayweather is cutting weight for this fight, then if he does fight Pacquiao he'll be used to cutting weight then he can go back to WW. How can somebody seriously think that Mayweather can come off a layoff and fight Mosley??? Its already hard enough to beat Mosley when your active, **** its gonna be hard for Mayweather to beat JMM

I just don't see on what basis you can assume that Floydwould make more against Marquez. IF promoted right both fight can make a ton of money and Mosley has never been an unreasonable negotiator. He took 5 million to DLH 25 even after beating for example.

Also the first part of your post pretty much hits it on the head. This is an easier fight which is the only reason Floyd took it.

I got no problem with this as you are pretty much admitting the truth. marquez is the easier fight

gotta love shane. i wish mayweather would give him a goddamn shot. its so annoying hearing floyd with his oh he beat cotto, cotto beat him blah blah blah. where was the legitimate answer there? floyd will never risk his L fighting someone he thinks even has a shot at taking it. he may be making a mistake in that case taking a fight with marquez, but i think he knows very well what he's doing and i'm sure he knows 100% that he has the strategy to take out JMM.

We're not talking JCC here. Marquez is not that big of a draw with mexican fans who by the way are not really fans of only their own countrymen. They are fans of the sport and if promoted properly they would tune in regardless.

i dont know man... you make some good points, but a lot of what you said we're really not gonna know until after the fight (i.e. marquez is the bigger draw, which i don't think he is).

this would be jmm's first mega-money fight. he already made a million or a couple against barrera, pac and juan diaz but this time he would likely get somewhere close to around $5M or more. but if you would compute this, it would only be 25% share to floyd's 75% when floyd is about to make $15M. shane would probably be demanding around 35% to 40% share against floyd.

This is based completly on speculation for one. Secondly Mosley has never had trouble acknowledging when the other guy is the bigger draw and negotiating accordingly.

yes i admit this is based on speculation but also based on reason. as i said, mosley has already earned the big money before while jmm has yet to earn this type of payday. it is most likely that jmm would agree to a lesser share as compared to mosley.
