Look I dont even deny GGG looks special. I agree talent wise he looks great. But so have many other. Was Bute elite before he fought Froch? Bute had the same amount of defenses as GGG and against similar opp actually maybe better with the likes of Bika , Glen Johnson , Andrade and Miranda. Yet he looked elite against them B class fighters but when he stepped up to A class he was proven to not be elite. Same with GGG. Hes not elite until he beats somebody who is A Level.

I also don't get your RJJ example. He was P4P number 1 when he moved up. So was clearly elite and was weight jumping. He started at a lighter weight than GGG. He searched for that defining fight by moving up and fighting James Toney.

 

So after all that I actually agree borderline elite i won't argue with. Oh but saying Jones doesn't have a defining win? You mean at 175 right?

 

Ok i assume your referring to DM. No RJJ didnt fight him. But he was already proven as elite in a P4P sense before that so I dont get your point because i was saying GGG isn't proven as elite in any sense. Even if i was to concede that he could reach that status by knocking over good top 10 160 fighters for years then he still hasn't done enough. Rosado and Stevens are journeymen. Adama Who else? Who did he take his title off btw?

Jones win over Reggie Johnson could be seen as elite aswell.

He was elevated to full world title status when Geale ducked him to fight Mundine and he has since defended it against Stevens, Adama, Geale and Rubio.
