Makes me laugh how people slate GGG's...

You admit hes not true elite. So all that debate was pointless. You know hes not proven true elite you just said it. Cool. Hopefully we see him against a top fighter soon.

Yes borderline. He needs a top win to get over the line. Jeff Lacy was considered the best 168 pounder in the world. He was the clear favorite against Calzaghe. That was 1 vs 2 and Lacy was the clear favorite. He was considered a monster just like you consider GGG a monster on the basis of beating B level fighters convincingly. He got battered though and became a hypejob. I was following the sport back then and I haven't forgot how Lacy was perceived. He had alot of hype. Bute wasn't considered the best at 168 but he was very very highly though of and again was the favorite against Froch. But he lost badly. GGG is in the same position as them before they stepped up and fought somebody elite. Im not saying he will lose but hes not won yet. I think Cottos world class jab and timing would give GGG fits. I do fancy GGG to bust him up down the stretch though. I would pick GGG by late stoppage in a competitive fight.

Again, I like GGG, I think he's an exciting fighter, but a lot of these threads are just silly.

Roy Jones has beaten FIVE legitimate hall of famers (McCallum and Trinidad were past their prime, but not shot)

He beat 3 other guys you could make a case for (Pazienza, Castro, Tarver). He went 12 rounds with another Hall of Famer when he was way past his prime (Calzaghe), and beat a good heavyweight contender (Ruiz)

If I was a betting man and had to bet on the outcomes of GGG vs:

    Hill
    McCallum
    Toney
    Tarver
    Trinidad
    Calzaghe
    Ruiz
    Castro
    Pazienza

He beats Vinnie and Castro pretty easily, probably beats Trinidad and McCallum, but they're good fights

And loses going away to Toney, Calzaghe, Hopkins Taver, and Ruiz. His trainer's done a great job of hyping up his rep and terrifying his opponents. Curtis Stevens or Kassim Ouma go maybe 2 rounds with a prime Roy Jones, and he probably stops everyone GGG has fought. Maybe one or two guys go the difference.

    Just my 2c.

Lacy was the betting favorite. I had a bet on the fight.

I dont have to do that because i followed the sport then. Unlike you obviously. Most people were picking Lacy by KO.

Now its confirmed you started watching boxing in 2012. Its no big deal saying GGG beats 160 Vinnie Paz and 170 pound Tito Trinidad! So he should! Paz was a lightweight and Tito was a Welterweight. Those wins aren't even in Roys top 15 wins.

No your arguing he is elite now because iyo he wins these fights which have not happened yet. Im just saying he is elite when he actually wins the fights in real life. Thats all.

I bet Calzaghe because i thought he would rise to the occasion and outbox Lacy with some rough moments in there. Turns out there was no rough moments. Was happy with that one. The odds were tight with Lacy a favourite. Public opinion strongly favoured Lacy though. The forums and pundits were backing Lacy mostly. Because Lacy looked so powerful and Calzaghe was injury plagued and inconsistent with his form.

Yes i rate GGG. Yes i rate him higher than i did Lacy. I am just reluctant to call him great until i see him up against more than average/good skillsets. Isn't that reasonable?
