Watched yesterday. Won against an old but brilliiant Takam but the guy would lose to all the top fighters imo. Has power but lacks many skills, defensive ones for example are not good the same his gas tank. Def Overrated.

    Agreed?

The whole new generation coming through or going to beat each other in a massive KO era! all massive lumps with power and flaws.

Makhmudov might be a "new" fighter, but surely not new generation. He's older than AJ or Parker and as old as Ruiz or Fury.

There's a lack of quality HWs in Canada so it's hard to get good sparring out there so he'll struggle and get complacent after a while.
It's also hard to move to USA when he has settled in so well in Montreal and it does not guarantee success.

He just needs to knuckle down and work harder and work on his glaringly obvious flaws.

    Yup all of them overrated.

If 20 year old Jared Anderson finesses his boxing craft he'll make it. ultimately everyone finds a worthy opponent one day and your mental strength is what matters. All in the mind.

Makhmudov isn't perfect (plodder, needs a jab, etc.). No fighter is pefect.

BUT there's just no way Takam was "clean" for that fight.

Takam has a history - going back about 10 years ago - of gassing in the later rounds. So...he's just a few months shy of his 42nd birthday, weighs in at a career-high 261 lbs...and he isn't gassing after 10 rounds?!

Take a look at his performance compared to Povetkin (remember 2014 when Takam got stopped by Povetkin after Carlos gassed?) against Whyte in 2020. Povetkin and Takam are about the same height. For that fight Povetkin was about a year younger than Takam was Friday night, weighed about 40 lbs less (!) than Takam did..and he was dead-legged and gassed after 3 rounds. That is what you expect from a 40+ year-old heavyweight. What Takam displayed on Friday night definitely is not.

(Note: Povetkin actually stopped Takam in 2014 when Carlos gassed and got caught)

At the end of the day, this probably helps Makhmudov because a clean Takam probably would not have made it out of the first round and seeming a little less dangerous will probably help him land bigger fights, anyhow...but somebody in a white coat should have been handing Carlos Takam a cup to pee in after this one was over.
