Makhmudov vs Chisora... a fight I'd like to see

Mak the Neck gets squashed by a old, slow, fat Chisora.

 

Concerning the ATG vs mediocre threads:

One can't use the selection for such ridiculous threads as proxy for public opinion or similar. Those threads are just that: ridiculous. Doesn't matter if Chisora is rather included than Makhmudov or not.

What I mean is: if you ask these questions at all, your selection of fighters can be expected to be similarly flawed.

Comcerning Chisora - Makhmudov:

Chisora has to be the favorite after his recent performances and makhmudovs vulnerability. But a lot of unknowns about this fight as makhmudov slugs so hard.

And they wouldn't pay Chisora enough to fight makhmudov I expect. I think if whyte isn't a total shell of himself in the itauma fight, he will be one of chisoras best options and always way better than makhmudov from a risk-reward perspective.

 

Broadly, it's a litmus indicator of major hype...

When a fighter who's proved very little gets stuck in a thread like that, you can bet they're broadly overrated.

Sometimes those current Vs ATG propositions aren't completely ridiculous - but when it's someone who's achieved very little, it hints at hype.

What I'm getting at by pointing that out is broadly that... The only reason anyone's suggesting Makh Vs Chisora in the first place is one is massively overhyped and the other is a bit underappreciated - as a result two fighters a couple of levels apart are getting thrown together as if it's a relevant fight to even think about making, when it makes no sense for Del to take a squash match against a relative nobody right now as he's nearing the end.

Massive favourite, surely?

And yes, it's heavyweight and pillowfists aside a punchers chance usually exists... But we don't pick the overmatched guy with the punchers chance.

Of course not - because Makh has no draw and even a win isn't going to build him up enough to make it worth investing in getting him a great fight at a loss... Quite aside from the fact he'd lose.

 

Chisora is an infinitely more accomplished and skilled fighter. But he tends to get hit a lot, even more so now. If he gets a little bit older 'overnight' it's not a pretty matchup for him.

I actually don't want to see chisora take a lot more unneccessary punishment so I am a bit cautious with predicting him winning safely against makhmudov.

Chisora has slowed and has only one surgical weapon to stop a makhmudov in his tracks which is the overhand right. Other than that it is a drawn out slugfest with chisora being a bit more precise but makhmudov putting more force into his punches. Not exactly what chisora needs. And in his previous matches I saw him being more off balance looking a little bit drunk in the ring for periods. I could only attribute that to a mix of exhaustion and effect of getting hit but whatever it was he looked more unsteady than before.

Add to that his heart of a lion and how he fights through any stamina issues at 42 I am actually happy that he will most probably not be facing makhmudov.

Well all that is maybe just my fear for Chisora speaking. Makhmudov is a wild slugger who does not prepare his attacks and has a lack of precision in his punches and mostly depends on the luck to hit his targets with wild swings while chisora has impressively added a very decent defense late in his career and paces himself well using defense and traps to rest in between so Chisora is still my favorite but if a little bit goes wrong I believe he is in threatening trouble...
