I've noticed that on undercards or small hall shows that many fighters don't seem to make the weight for their division like guys weighing 11st 3 in a welterweight contest or 13st 7 at light heavy. Also noticed that some at heavyweight come in at like 14st 1. What's the deal? Is it a case that unless it's a title fight then it doesn't matter?

It boils down to what the opponents are willing to allow..especially if it is a showsaver.... Heard Brodie had a a couple of trips to the scales... In the end it was grammes that you would lose on a trip to the toilet...

I think that when fighters are consistently struggling to make the weight they should move up for the long term health benefits...:good

Surely that can give guys an unfair advantage though. I mean, looking at boxrec, Tony Bellew as an example has not made the strict limit of light heavy once yet. Is it simply down to th opponent to agree it? By the way I'm not having a dig at Tony or any pro for that matter but surely these things can make a big difference?

for a 4-8 rounder your going to be doung a 3-4 weeks of intense training, for a 12 round title fight your going to be doing 8 weeks intense training. so for lesser round fights fighter will generally be heavier than there weightclass. If Frankie Gavin for example could get to 140 in 4 weeks, he would be at 135 after 8.

I was checking out that guy Simpson's boxing on Saturday , Stevie Bell .According to his record he's only ever made 126 onced .I thought that was a bit strange especially because he's 34 and 5.10.Hopefully he gets ko'd anyway. The Andy Morris ko was quality.
