For those that haven't seen it, one of the worst beatdowns in UFC history, how the **** Maldonado survived the first round I do not know, guy is a ****ing warrior. http://fightnext.com/video/M92GSM77A6O8/Glover-Teixeira-vs-Fabio-Maldonado--UFC-153
I'm surprised it's a video people want to see. I saw before the bell it was a mismatch. Was Maldonado a replacement or hasn't he trained for the fight? Clear mismatch even skillwise Oh yeah his heart was there, tagged him with a little left hook that surprised Texeira
The 1st round was friggin brutal! Any photos of Maldonado in the days following the fight? His face must've been the size of a basketball. So much respect for him for surviving and not losing heart.
This just proves how ridiculous Maldonado's chin is. If he cut to 185 he could be pretty good IMO, though his gas tank would suffer and it's a vital part of his game.
Maldonado won some serious respect from this fight, he stepped up on short notice to fight a guy that everyone at 205 who was offered the fight has ducked. He absorbed a lot of punishment and almost pulled of the upset when he landed that left hook on texiera. Fair play to Maldonado but I think he would be more of a force at 185 than 205
He's a wee bit fat. Look how small he's looked compared to Glover and Kingsbury, two monsters at the weight. Fighting at your natural weight is a pretty good idea IMO but of he wants to be successful it's not gonna' be at 205. 185 is where people his size cut to to get away from heavyweights.
That fight was x-rated! I was kinda begging the ref to stop the fight. How he took that ground and pound! ****!!!!!!! That was savage. I thought he was on the way to getting killed in there. Like some crazy amount of unanswered undefended vicious blows to his head. How he survived that I will never know!!
Hopefully they give him someone like Anthony Perosh for his next outing. He deserves a break from the brutal wars.
