In a recent interview with Michael Marley on the confidential boxing site. "I should not have lost to Ricky and I wouldnt lose if I fought him again. I blame my loss to Rick chiefly on my then trainer, Buddy McGirt."
Sure Malignaggi, you probably would've knocked him out if it weren't for that goddamn trainer of yours! atsch
It's not McGirt's fault Malignaggi lost at all. Paulie simply couldn't hang with a beast like Hatton... but I can understand his disdain towards Buddy for not having the confidence in him to allow him to finish the fight. Having your own trainer throw in the towel like that had to sting Paulie.
He could probably have felt justified throwing the towel in earlier.... doing it at the time he did was a little off I must admit. The fight was over as a contest in the 2nd round... but for the constant holding he would have been KO'd there and then IMO.
Mcgirt gave Malignaggi numerous warnings that if he did'nt start to fight he would pull him out. All Malignaggi did from the 3rd on was take punishment and hold for dear life. Mcgirt warned him one final time and he did or couldnot do anything to change Mcgirts mind. Malignaggi has used Mcgirt as a scapegoat.
Changing the subject, slightly, was Mallignaggi's fight on the Froch/Taylor undercard shown on Shotime?
Malignaggi is one of the worst losers i've seen, he gives Hatton no credit and blames his trainer for the loss, pathetic.
