    The Ring Magazine, May 2009

Luis Collazo, David Diaz, and Juan Lazcano favor Pacquiao by stoppage. Paulie Mailgnaggi did not specify the nature of the outcome, though he picked Pacquiao as the winner. 17 of 20 total experts picked Pacquiao. Only Steve Bunce of Setanta Sports, Stuart Brennan of the Manchester Evening News, and Mark Collings of Esquire U.K., have predicted a Ricky Hatton victory on May 2nd. God Save the Queen.

I don't think anyone takes their words as gospel obviously. They're talking heads basically...it's up to us to decide whether they're worth listening to. Nobody is going to base their picks on what an "expert' says.

I'm just laughing that Steve Bunce picked Hatton. I'd love for him to throw us a swerve and pick Manny. Maybe just to get some reverse mojo goin on.

Well I know that Manny Pac is about as U.S.A as it gets.

Ricky Hatton is pretty beloved in the US. Nobody dislikes Hatton here.

I think people are picking Pac because he's the P4P #1, coming off two straight absolutely dominating performances, one at a weight class 17 lbs above his best and because he's got what is now perceived to be the best trainer in the world in Joke Coach Roach guiding him. Hatton is coming off a good performance against Paulie Malignaggi but a lackluster showing against Lazcano and we all know what happened last time he took on the P4P #1.

Something tells me nationalities trail compared to all that.

This post is absolutely spot on. The reason people are favouring Pac is because he is a more esatblished fighter, not because of any anti-UK bias.
