I don't know if this has been mentioned before, but as a Cotto fan, i was thinking about tonights fight and how it might play out.
Malignaggi-Diaz for whatever reason came into my head, and i couldn't help but notice some similarities in both styles and circumstances.

Malignaggi and Foreman are both the taller, faster and natural's in the weight class. They both have a severe lack of knockout power, but have good skillsets and box primarily on the back foot.

Diaz and Cotto are both smaller and stockier than their above mentioned opponents. They are both natural aggressors, with good boxing skills, and both went/go into the fights with doubts surrounding them, some serious recent defeats, and moving up in weight.

Now by no means am i saying the pairs are exactly the same, Cotto is far better than Diaz in both skillset and resume, for example. But i can't help but feel that there are some serious similarities here, and wan't to know if anyone else feels this way and if they feel that the fight tonight will pan out in any way similarly to Malignagi-Diaz 1 and 2.

Nonetheless, win or lose, as they say, war Cotto!

im not so certain Foreman is that much faster than Cotto. Sugar Shane Mosley himself said Cotto is deceptively fast. I see Cotto out jabbing Foreman and being very effective to the body before stopping him via TKO or KO.

I think you have the right fighters, but the wrong comparisons. To me, this is more like Cotto/Malignaggi. To beat Cotto, you have to hurt him, get him to respect you and force him to back up. I don't believe Foreman has that power. Also, Cotto's skill set is way superior to Diaz.

As I said in another post, I believe Foreman goes the distance with Cotto, but pays a high price to do it with Cotto winning a UD.

i can see the similarities but i think cotto still has alot more to offer than diaz and 154lbs is perhaps more comfortable for him wheras diaz was not right at light weltwerweight. Malignaggi was quicker as well than foreman so i see cotto being able to pressure him more effectively than diaz and winning as a result. I thought paulie clearly won the first fight by the way

Totally agree that Cotto's speed has gone unnoticed before.
In my thread example, though, i mentioned how Diaz moved up in weight, as a result of this his speed did not carry with him. He was pushing shots all night.
With Foreman likely to move out of range even faster than Malignaggi does, Cotto will have to either box brilliantly, or bring his welterweight speed to the table and then some, if i feel he is to catch up with Foreman.
I do think and have stated i feel Cotto will win, but that is my view based on Cotto not having the same issues that Diaz had with Malignaggi when moving up.

Cotto has more power than Diaz!!

Paulie stated that Cotto hurt him badly, even more than against Hatton

Didn't Paulie have a fractured eye socket after their fight?
