Ah, the life of a professional boxer...one moment you're the best thing since sliced bread, the next you're not. Malignaggi was roundly derised around here before he fought Cotto, before a brave effort turned opinion round about him. People thought he was a real fighter at least, and as time went on and he beat N'dou for the IBF title, Malignaggi was getting more and more praise for his abilities and a certain fanbase. Predictions of glory and hype as a man to be feared, naturally, began to surface. Now we have this fight with Ngoudjo. Nope, I didn't see the fight. But there's an awful lot of anger and blame going around here at the moment and Paulie's reputation is getting knocked down a notch or two already. So what's the bottom line here? Has Malignaggi's ability been given a false impression, or was Ngoudjo just better than him? This all yet again confirms the school of thought that you can never get a true perspective on a person's abilities and all-time ranking until their career is over...
malignaggi fought a good fight, ngoujo was being aggressive but it wasn't very effective sure he landed a few good straight rights here and there, one which hurt/stunned malignaggi but paulie had the fight in control, he was dodging most of ngoujo's shots and tying him up, also it looked like malignaggi's team underestimated ngoujo as his corner were telling him at the beggining "he isn't in your league, you are an elite, he is b class at best".
Well if he fights hatton and tell him that then hatton is going to smash him. Look at that though hatton as few crap fights and they say he his overrated mallinaggi looks like he could have lost but is fans said oh they just underestimated him.
I see a lot of people talking about the non-existing punching power of Juan Diaz and Malignaggi if it was the same thing. However there's a big difference. Diaz is mixing his punches very well lately, throwing some lighter quick leads then some big shots, mixing it to the body and head and breaking down the opponents with BOTH speed shots and carefully selected power shots. In Paulie’s case, I don't see him landing any cracking blows. His hand injury history is another sad story and Paulie is just isn’t relying in his power as he doesn’t have confidence in it. Maybe that’s the better strategy but it is very clear to me that opposite of Diaz who in a round or two makes his opponents respect his power Paulie can’t or just won’t do that and that could turn out to be a problem against EVERY fighter with better than average skills, good pressure and pretty good hand speed as Ngoudjo's. And both Witter and Hatton could give huge problems to Malignaggi as well as Torres because no matter how hard you box, you don’t have the chance for the knockout while your opponent can do that or put on enough pressure to make the rounds closer than is should be. I like Paulie and his style but I don’t see his skills and speed alone winning a fight against Ricky or Junior. He’s got better chance against Torres as Ricardo is giving a hell lot of counterpunching opportunities but he too wouldn’t respect Paulie’s power to get off his ass. I see a lot of hard earned victories coming which would be clear knockouts if Malignaggi would have a better punching power and would rely on that more. Ngoudjo was as underrated as a fighter as Joshua Clottey but this fight still shouldn't have been this close. Why it was close is the problem what Mallignaggi will have to face each time he steps in the ring against competition on the level of Herman or better.
well thats what they did, watch the fight and see at the beggining what buddy mcgirt tells paulie, they came for an easy night.
Someone obviously didn't do his homework. Sounds precisely like a certain poster here who predicted the "destruction" of Herman Ngoudjo.
so you say herman wasn't effective, are you trying to imply that malignaggi was??? all he did was running backwards and tighing up,I'm not a fan of either guys but herman did not loose that fight, worst case scenario would;ve been a draw.
I never thought too highly of him, he seemed to be rated only because he didn't get knocked out by a weight drained Cotto rather than anything he's done himself However, I was open minded going into this fight. Even his gay hair didn't put me off. Or his sparkly outfit. Or his flamboyant shoes I thought Ngoudjo won the fight, and overall was far from impressed
Ok So a lost to Castillo in a SD where alot of people said It was robberry is a bad record to you, most people present in Vegas that night thaugt Ngoudjo won that fight over Castillo? Just looking at record does not say much on a boxer my friend. To me Ngoudjo should still have a big fat zero on his record.
Did u look at the punch stat ? Malignaggi 144/499 29%, Ngoudjo 148/524 28%. You know **** about dodging so stfu...
