He needs a different trainer IMO, wasn't Paulie with someone from Glesons gym upto te Cotto fight? I thought he was alot better than he is now back then.
I wouldn't go as far as to call him ****, Fallow but I think he is beatable! I think Hatton would give him a tuning. He put up a great effort against Cotto but ultimatley I see him losing his title soon. Nice boxer at times but I'm no fan.
there's an old cliche that say something like 'it's dangerous to rate a guy highly on the back of a loss' especially as Cotto was clearly struggling with 140 those days and was drained tae ****. He dropped rounds to other guys and as we all know was on ***** street on a number of occasions. None of that at 147, and against much better opponents.
Yeah, terribly awesome! His last fight was entertaining but, not boxing wise mostly cause Paulie is an idiot
I've got him ranked #2 in my 140 rankings, but i think its a matter of time before he gets beat at that weight. Hatton would kill him. Bradley could possibly do it too.
I agree I've seen the guy 4 times now. The first time against Cotto, I was impressed with his heart and courage against the weight drained Cotto, although I thought the closeness of the fight was overplayed. But overall, good performance. Then he looked real good against the limited N'dou first time around, using his skills and speed. Since then, he looked absolutely horrible against Ngoudjo. He got hurt, outfought and outsmarted by a B- class, and I'm thinking the Cotto fight ****ed him up. N'dou II confirmed my thoughts, he fought the wrong type of fight, again got tagged too much, hurt and outsmarted. I had him winning a far closer decision than he ought to have against a B- plodder Overall, it doesn't augur well for a fight with Hatton, because he does not fight to his own strengths. He'll get caught up in Hatton's fight, and brutalised entirely
Winning the 1st half ? When he was knocked down and bloodied up in the 1st half and beat down lol I thought he did better in the middle rounds when cotto was taking a breather ....then cotto came on late again and put some serious hurt on him
I agree with this. If anyone really wants to see what the Cotto fight took out of him, besides the facial fractures and cuts and body beating he took, only has to watch that documentary he made where when he is in the locker room afterwards and there was no doctor there to see him. He screamed for a doctor and complained of severe headaches then collapsed to the floor. That's when they rushed the cameras out of the room.
Malignaggi is a good boxer w/ a brittle right hand. He's doing better than I thought he would do ... he has a good chin, decent speed, and good movement and athleticism. He already has a 2 defenses of his title ... he's 3-1 in championship fights ... I think he has the chance to outbox all the other champions in the division - but that remains to be seen. I think that Hatton is very strong and very fast and would give Malignaggi trouble, but if Malignaggi's chin holds up and he can use the ring to his advantage, lead and counter then he'll be alright.
Torres, Koetlnik, Urango, Holt, Rees, Viv. Harris, These are top ten'ers that I think Malignaggi disposes of with relative ease when his game is on point. There are some sharks out there that I think make interesting matchups. Witter being a big one. Another being Timothy Bradley- if it was a fluke... no but if he actually dismantled witter then his a danger to anyone in the 140s! So as far as the titleholders are concerned, if the right fights are made, Paulie could unify with relative ease provided he comes with the proper mentality. He has to get past Hatton first though... No easy task for anyone but i think he has the tools to do it
So can we all agree that if Hatton were to lose to this chump that it would be a complete total and utter disgrace for Hatton and all arguments claiming him to be even remotely great would be buried 6ft under for eternity?
