I think he would be a good option to fill the void that Steward left at HBO.

But I wonder if working with that team would turn him into an line-towing yes man

    Hopefully not

I think he is great at fight analysis. He has a bright future outside of the ring.

Most boxing pundits really annoy me, probably because boxing is the only sport I'm quite knowledgeable about (...I hope ) so I find myself disagreeing with pundits a fair bit. I'm bored of the same old clichés from them, but Malignaggi is different. He comes across well, he gives good insight and he doesn't stick to the script.

I'd love it if Malignaggi got a semi-regular job with Sky. He's so much better than anyone else on the channel except Jamie Moore, it's unbelievable. Guys like Nelson, McGuigan, McCrory etc., are as dull as dishwater.

Maybe the lack of good pundits is down to the fact that people who get punched in the head for a living probably aren't the most articulate or erudite.

regardless of what some think of him as a fighter, paulie would make for a great commentator. he brings a colorful insight to his commentating, plus he's a real boxer who has been in the ring himself, unlike most of today's overrated commentators...eg. kellerman, mario lopez, etc...:verysad

paulie is the most natural i've ever heard. i come from a broadcasting background and he has the goods. he's got s few things he needs to work out (flow/ slowing it down/ not getting overexcited) but all in all he sounds like he's made for it. great insight, concise and to the point, clear speech, good enunciation and that intangible that many that are pros at everything else in the broadcasting game lack- charisma. he's got personality and comes off authentic. with a little seasoning he could be one of the best.

Showtimes announcing crew is absolutely AMAZING. They absolutely KICK ASS. They are making HBO look like absolute ****. They got a little of everything. The got great speaking from Paulie, they got a little spark from the MMA guy whos on there who I think is really good. We got the classic guys from all these years past and while they don't have an "Alright Jim I have it...." They have Joe Cortez giving some knowledge on how he sees certain calls being made from a ref's point of view.

Hands down, Showtime is owning HBO.

Good insights and definitely good enough to stay but I still prefer RJJ.

Yeah, he's great. And he actually knows what he's talking about which makes for a change.

    Lol @ second poll option.

I agree, The "Magic Man" is damn good. But so is the other "Magic Man"...Tarver needs to come back also.

I'm not sure about a permanent position just yet.
The few times I've heard him as a commentator, he's done a terrific job. He knows boxing and is a total character.
But, I'd like to see more of him to see if he fits a proper spot. Hope he doesn't sell out and turns into a brown-noser like the rest.

Malignaggi is better suited for showtime where they give him free reign to say what he wants, at HBO you have to follow the script thats pre-determined beforehand.

There is a reason why Roy Jones does not work HBO's big fight PPV telecasts at HBO like Marquez-Pacquiao, I dont think the higher up's at HBO believe Roy Jones is the type to follow a script he does'nt believe in, thus Jones gets stuck in after dark shows or lesser non-ppv telecasts where he's good enough now to be analyzing the ppv shows.

It would be like Gary Neville switching to punditry/commentary.. un-biased and knows what he's talkin about.
