We all know he lacks the power and is featherfisted but he has good speed and great boxing ability. His only losses are to elite fighters like Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto. The Hatton fight was a blowout mostly due to his lack of power to keep Ricky off. The Cotto was somewhat competitive and Paulie had that nasty cut over his eye and still fought gamely.

He holds solid wins over Edner Cherry, Ngoudjo and N'Dou and is the former Light Welterweight Champ. He is set to take on the Undefeated Mike Alvarado who is 26-0 with 18 KO's. I am not saying he is elite but I think he's a good fighter.

    What do you all think?

Agreed. Not elite, but good. If only he had decent power.

I have some sympathy for Malli with those hand problems he is always going to have to plan for a 12 round fight. He really has to earn his money I think he must dream of taking a guy out in the first round.

not a world beater but can beat a lot in the deep 140 division. i may be biased cuz i am a big fan but i think he wipes the floor with alvarado in june. i look for big things for malignaggi in his future. he has a new trainer and is back in ny and i think that will help. he is back to his roots and what brought him to the top of his game. maybe in the fall he can get a fight with nate campbell i think that would be a good fight

with modern science cant fighters have pain killer injections in their hands right before fights or is that illegal. i know it doesn't solve the problem in the long run but if a fighter is desperate enough they would use it.

I know some footballlers here in england with niggling injuries has injection in thier knees and ankles right before important matches. its perfectly legal here but not ideal.

I don't know, I still can't believe he was supposed to be the top contender in 140.
    Says alot about the division.

He has skills no doubt but he doesn't have the power to make opponent think twice when they attack. That is his weakness and that is what seperate him from becoming elite.

See the error of your way there? You trying to say Pac is two steps above elite? I think people on this site are way to quick to write fighters off over a loss and entertainment value in fights is over looked. We just need to see how he comes back from here.

I became a fan of Paulie after I saw his Cotto fight. The guy has good skills, and boxers rarely come tougher than Paulie. He's got so much guts. If he had power, he would be hard to beat. Too bad his hands are so fragile. You have to be good for any chance to beat him.
