If Hatton wasn't elite it wouldn't be considered a top win for Pac especially with his resume) and certainly wouldn't have been seen as a 50/50 fight for a lot of fight fans going into it. Hattons punch resistance has gone and Pacs has went to high ATG status due to the win. One KO loss doesn't mean someone was never any good. It was simply a style clash that ended badly. Foreman KO's fraizer in 2... ahh well he was never elite anyway.
I disagree. 2 wins over p4p competition, belt at WW, solid wins over Urango, Paulie and Callazo. No one outside the top 5 has a win like Tzsyu. He was p4p 3 and big big favourite before the fight. So where was Hatton then after the Paulie fight? if not inside the top ten. This site is ****ing ******ed sometimes and has such a short memory.
I think the way he fought aganst hatton was terrible, he didn't box, he was just looking to survive. Sad thing is, I think he could have outboxed Hatton had he thrown a few right hands and used some lateral movement. He just stood there and waited for hatton to come.
He's a C+ fighter, having no power can only take you so far, especially when matched up vs elite fighters. If only he had taken Capetillo as his trainer, he would probably be in top 3 @140.:good
yeah, people are so quick to criticize world class fighters. They say he has 'no power'. I'd like to see anybody here fight him. He has KO power, just not against other world class fighters. People tend to forget there is a huge difference between being bad, and simply not as good as the best.
The manner of that fight says he was not elite when he fought Pac though. Never is another story. This is about what Hatton's win over Malignaggi meant. Unless you want to say Paulie ruined Hatton, Hatton was not elite when he fought Pac. The evidence could not be any clearer in this case could it?
Don't think he's trying to say Pac is two steps above elite, Pac is an elite fighter too and they fall in the same category that's why they compete with one another. Both Hagler and Hearns are elite fighters and Hagler defeated Hearns by KO in the third, does that mean Hagler is three or two steps above elite?, nope. Two elite fighters meeting with the fight ending early doesn't mean the loser doesn't belong high enough.
The fact remains that before the fight a lot of fans thought it was 50/50.. I mean Pac is number 1 p4p and fans thought it would be a war. That's more than enough to me to suggest that Hatton was elite and regarded highly. There's loads of elite fighters that have been beaten early. Smoking Joe. Duran. Hearns. Even RJJ when he got sparked by Tarver, before the loss he was elite.
