PBF has nothing to gain by facing GGG at 154 high risk low reward fight at the end of his career.

Cotto and Canelo will likely never face Golovkin, which, to me at least, is all the more reason he should venture north to face Ward.

I'd be shocked if the WBC ever forced Cotto or Canelo to face Golovkin - especially when even a remote possibility remains that the winner could land a Floyd rematch.

I think Canelo Will fight Golovkin. Canelo definetely wants to fight the best.

I've said this for months the WBC won't make Cotto or Canelo face GGG. What the WBC wants is for PBF-Canelo rematch at 160 and for Canelo to win the rematch. They will freeze GGG out for as long as possible because he doesn't fit into their plans.

I said something similar in a diffrent thread. If GGG comes down and Floyd wins the fight he will receive no credit for winning and people will say GGG was drained. People say he never takes on challenges, when he does and wins people just discredit the win.

When do you think Canelo would face Golovkin? Early next year?

I don't think Oscar lets Canelo anywhere near him for as long as he can hold it off - which won't be a problem, because I doubt the WBC forces their hand no matter what.

Canelo would probably be willing, but Oscar and Company would be better off waiting it out. Canelo is young yet, and doesn't need to rush into the lion's den - especially when he has much greater name value and much more influential political powers on his side.

I don't know all the fighters in the divisions.
I know that Ward hasn't been fighting much in the last 3 or 4 years. It's not an interesting question until he does something a bit more relevant than beat Paul Smith.

    Again?

Seriously folks. Here is how it goes.

Reporter to fighter who can (or thinks he can) make X weight: " Do you want to fight for the biggest payday and exposure in the sport at X weight? "

Boxer: "Yes I would love that fight"

It doesnt change, and the names arent important. I mean Ward offered to fight Floyd at 160lbs. So should we hate on Ward for not wanting to go to 160 for GGG now?

Come on. Rehashing this gets old. The answer to "will you fight Floyd Mayweather" is always yes, at whatever weight the fighter thinks he might be able to make.

I too have been saying this for months. It's pretty obvious, too, I think.

I am surprised that Oscar actually is putting Lemieux in there with GGG at this time, so I could be wrong. But the fact that Oscar is throwing Lemieux into the lion's den makes me even more convinced that he will steer Canelo away from Golovkin.

On the other hand, Ward needs to do something, pick up the titles, beat Degale or Abraham, or else there's little incentive for Golovkin to take that risk.
I'm not convinced Ward is going to be at 168.

Might as well stay at 160. Cotto will drop out soon enough. Alvarez, I don't know what he'll do. He might be willing to fight GGG.

What the hell are you talking about? Ward hasn't fought Kovalev or Beterbiev. I also wouldn't have him as a favorite if he fights one of these monsters.

Understandable that he wants to fight Floyd. Doesn't everyone? But, he would make a better case for it, by moving down and fighting a legitimate challenge at 154. Lara has expressed interest. That's a good fight. Demetrius Andrade can't seem to get a fight. Maybe he'd be interested.

Why do you say that ?
I have no agenda. Maybe you do, I don't know.
I'll be honest, I haven't even seen some of the relevant fighters at 168 and 175. So I can't exactly tell you who Ward would or would not beat, even at his best.
    What's your point ?
You obviously think he beats everyone. Maybe he does, I wouldn't know.

There's a reason fighters drop out of the ratings due to inactivity.
There's a reason fighters are impelled to fight contenders regularly to prove themselves constantly.

I agree with this. If you really want to fight the top guy at a different weight, actually fighting at the weight and beating a legit guy makes the best case. It shows the fight wont be a Dawson-Ward or a Pavlik-BHop type affair.

I said the same thing about Lara wanting GGG at 160 (why not beat up Jacobs or Quillin first? ) and the same thing could be said about GGG and Floyd (why not beat Lara first).
