Currently, Ring Magazine has Malignaggi listed as the no.1 ranked contender at LWW. I just don't see it. Paulie is a tough kid with a good jab, and above average speed but that's about it. Furthermore, the guys claim to fame is getting his face rearranged by Cotto. Since that fight, he's beaten a C level lightweight and two C level JWW's. He's struggled in his last two fights against C level guys. So how does a guy with not much defense, no power, very little in terms of offensive variety, as well as no wins over a solid B fighter become the no.1 ranked contender in his division?

Maybe I'm missing something here, maybe I'm being too hard on Paulie. Let me know what I'm missing here guys. What does Paulie do well besides run his mouth and jab?

He isn't a great fighter, but I don't think he should be ranked any lower than number 1 at 140lbs. He's better than Witter, Bradley, Kotlenik and those other contenders.

How? What does he do better than Witter besides jab? Does he have a better resume than Witter?

Witter just got beaten and knocked out by a guy, who he was red hot favourite to beat, and had never in his career faced even a top 50 opponent before.

Witter looked absolutely terrible in the fight as well. How does that warrant him keeping the no 1 spot. :huh

He's an above average guy with big mouth. Yes he's tough, but he is not deserving of high ranking. He's also a complete and total *******, which promoters seem to love in a guy.

    Witter lost via SD

I didn't say he should be ranked no.1, I said that he's better than Malignaggi.

Sorry I meant knocked down. No way should that fight have been a SD as well, it was really one sided and one of the British Judge's gave it to Witter.

Nobodys says Paulis the best boxer in the world, just that at this current time he has the best standing in the division and so is ranked at no 1.

Witter on current form looks hopeless.

C level are you sure about that? I would rank his last fighters B level fighters. If the Hatton fight comes off we'll find out go he is or isn't.

Ngoudjo lost to shot to pieces, coming up in weight Castillo. You could argue that he's a B- fighter, nothing more. N'Dou is a come foward, C level fighter. He'll give people tough fights but really hasn't beaten anyone of note.

I'd wish we'd get more coverage from guys that are trying to make it at 140lbs, guys like crazy mexican Victor Ortiz or even puerto rican Frankie Figueroa (who I want to see get some kind of decent shot), And there are others at 140 but I think its just boxing politics, Malignaggi is a known name for getting his face rearranged by Cotto (known to hardcore fans) and so They're going to keep Malignaggi up there in the rankings so guys like Hatton have more alternatives for decent Money Fights!
