Hatton did a far superior points Job then Cotto did, and you say Hatton could still afford to be sloppy and made a lot of mistakes doing it. Going by that analysis I'd say he is overrated but by yourself. :D

Wait a minute, you didn't see Hatton abandon the jab? You didn't see Hatton winging punches and leaving himself exposed for counters? One of the biggest reasons that Hatton won by a wider margin than Cotto was because gave Paulie more room to opperate than Hatton. Hatton smoothered Paulie which had a two pronged effect. It limited Paulie's output, but it also allowed Hatton to constantly be tied up. Cotto landed a lot more shots than Hatton on Paulie, and clearly did more damage. However, the difference in styles allowed Paulie to win more rounds against Cotto than against Hatton.

That is fair enough...However there are people that are downplaying this that spoke about how great of a win it was for Cotto...Its just like the Judah fight, when floyd beat judah he was a bum, but when Cotto beat him it was great and Cotto's best win, or how Floyd beatting Oscar meant nothing because Oscar was a money fighter but Margo vs Oscar would be great cuz it would be a great fight.

Be careful here, you dont want to go down that road of hyping and downplaying a fighter based on who he is fighting, that doesnt look good.

I'm not sure if I get your post. I don't know why you're mentioning Mayweather and I've never hyped up Paulie, so I'm not sure why you wrote that last part.

he was clasy at the end of the fight...he didn't run his mouth..he hyped the fight...and herman is a b level fighter...the guy was the ibf champ...noone at 140 beats him easily...he is still #2 in my book...u clam all he has is a fast jab..he is a tough kid and he gave cotto a war...that is more than most...it is wide open for #2 at 140 right now...man this avatar sucks

Ngoudjo was never IBF champ, N'Dou was. I will say, however, that Ngoudjo is a B level fighter. N'Dou is boderline B level and he gave Cotto a better fight than Paulie. You can't build your whole career on a loss. You say no one beats him easily at 140 but Hatton did just that last night. It may be wide open for no.2 at 140, but Paulie definately isn't the no.2 guy.

he is still arguably #2....if he was fighting the other guys it woulld or def could be alot different...if bradley fought hatton than everyone would be calling him overrated when hatton beats his ass...if it is not paulie than who is it...and whoever it is should be fighting hatton

It's a very weak argument that not many would make. I admit that the no.2 spot is up for debate, I just don't believe Paulie is still part of that debate.

It was more by default. 140 isn't deep w/ talent like it was.

I don't he's overrated i mean he beat some decent people who were far stronger then him. He's a good boxer just doesn't got the power to complete against elite fighters which hurts him. As far is he being far as he being no.1 I wouldn't rank that high but I guess there's people who feels that he deserve that position due to the fact he hang with Cotto for 12 rds.

Yep, Reg was dead on the money as usual. Malignaggi was grossly overestimated/overrated. This time not by the fans so much, but by the pundits and writers, overwhelmingly. Some people really confused the rest of us with this one... Even a character like Jim Lampley found the need to give elaborate explanations for why Malignaggi wasn't do this or that during the Hatton fight, when it's been obvious for a very long time that Malignaggi can't do certain **** altogether, whatsoever.
