Look fair play to Malik I think he tried his best and it nearly worked. Fury is just a once in a generation fighter in my view and will go undefeated.
Malik is an all-right guy, and he did bring some improvements out of Wilder. Might be a little too impressed with himself ... especially if he was encouraging all of the weight training / hypertrophy that surely made him poorer in the ring. Can't bear to listen to ES though.
Yeah, he can be proud of himself. Being remembered for training Wilder to last into the 11th round with Fury (being KTFO) is probably better than being remembered as Malik Scott the boxer.
For the first 4 rounds Wilder was doing what no one thought he could do....JAB and pushing Fury back and off him. Going to the body. Keeping balance. I give ALL the credit for the "new" Wilder to Malik for those rounds. Then Wilder went back to the "old" Wilder"....not jabbing, off balance, allowing himself to be bullied.
Fury was not at 100% last night whereas wilder was, and had horse hair gloves etc. He gassed because he had to go full speed at the start of the fight, and that can't be maintained.
Getting Wilder to jab and right hand the body consistently for one round is something to be proud of I guess. I'd be embarrassed if I was head trainer and my guy came in with a two round gas tank.
