I was just looking at my past notes, and I checked one of my old "keep an eye on" lists and saw the name Malik Scott. What the hell happened to this guy? Through the course of his career he just seemed to gain weight and take on a never ending merry-go-round of mediocre fighters in a series of boring 8 rounders. He is 28 years old, so it's not like is career is over...he hasn't fought since his 8 round decision over Raphael Butler....anybody have some news on what happened?
His promotional companies aren't doing him justice. He is with Goosen-Tutor now who has Toney, Arreola and Chambers to deal with. Scott isn't their main priority. What he needs to do is find a Promo company with a weak stable of HWs like Top Rank so he could be managed better.
He just got his 2 biggest wins of his career so far and now he stalls. Dont know why but you would hope he would capitalize. I saw the butler fight and must say i was impressed.
It took him quite a while to re-sign with Goosen, which happened a few months back. He should be back in the ring soon in some Goosen card. Has no HW power and aparently is nothing special on the skills department.
When talking about heavyweights, Malik Scott's name never seems to come up any more. He's 32-0, hasn't fought for a couple of years, and hiring himself out a sparring partner. I've only seen him fight once, and he seems to have talent. Since they're starved for good American heavyweights, why isn't he in the mix?
All he has to do is step up...there isn't much out there outside of the Klitschko and Haye, but he managed to get 32 wins against noone who is at least a top 15 world ranked...there is no excuse for that should he comes back. Sadly there is noone out there who he could beat to use as a measuring stick of whether he can beat the champions. There is no reason he couldn't be in the mix.
I made a similar thread when I first joined ESB 5 years ago. Scott imakes excuses that no one will fight him. Its bull ****. I don't hink he likes fighting, really.
