How did he come off to you guys yesterday? To me he sounded like someone who was trying to sound more knowledgeable then he actually is when talking about parrying and other stuff that is common knowledge. I think the corner of Wilder is going to be chaotic and come out with some strange advice between rounds. The sad thing could be is if Deontay starts getting bashed badly, Malik might not intervene like Mark did and Deontay might suffer some permanent damage. Hopefully the ref is on his game.
He doesn't come across too badly, but it's hard to judge him without a track record. We'll have to see what Deontay looks like on Saturday. If he has improved at all I'd give him some credit.
As you said, sounded like someone trying to be intellectual - it was ****ing hilarious when Fury told them to STFU when they were noshing each other off. So sounds like he's agreed to not pull Wilder out (idiotic), is his brother going to sit there and let him get permanent damage?
I find this whole "I didn't teach him anything I just brought it out of him" very stupid. You don't just have elite boxer technique and slips inside of you, you build it up.
That's not sad. That's Wilder's fault for getting rid of his good trainer who obviously cared about him enough to see that his hands were down and he was going to get seriously hurt if the towel didn't come in. Wilder ending up dead or in a wheelchair is the logical consequence of his stupidity
Malik Scott and Jay Deas when Wilder gets brutally bashed by the Gypsy King. This content is protected
Wilder came off as mentally ill and someone who needs medical attention Scott came off reasonably well, for someone who associates with a nutcase like Wilder he was fairly eloquent and spoke as you’d expect a trainer to speak
He didn't come off like an idiot or delusional like Wilder so at least there's someone in the team who seems reasonable. I personally always liked Scott as a fighter and he seems like a decent guy. His credentials as a trainer are of course non existent and I don't think he really has an answer for Fury. He himself was an out boxer but he's trying to teach Wilder not to get backed up and come forward. I don't think he was the right choice as a trainer for this rematch, Wilder simply wanted a friendly and agreeable trainer in his corner.
He is trying too hard. Next time Wilder would say that Malik did not teach him anything new and that is why he is not his trainer anymore.
He’s clearly manipulating him. Wilder is a guy with a delusional self-image who gets very uncomfortable when his lack of knowledge gets exposed. He really thinks he knows everything there is to know about boxing.
