But in a notion of friendship and how fighters are only true enemies in the ring, Malignaggi recalls a moment in training camp when he thought of Ricky Hatton. I was in the Poconos, eating at a diner and I saw something that reminded me of Ricky so I went and bought it, Malignaggi said. Usually when a boxer purchases something for another fighter, it tends to be something to insult his opponent. But for Malignaggi, this gesture was purely in good faith. I didnt want to give it to him before the fight because I didnt want to get too friendly. Malignaggi reaches in his bag and pulls out Hattons drink of choice a beer. Its Blue Moon beer, Malignaggi said as he shows the media the bottle with the name of Hattons ring entrance music blazoned across the front. The Magic Man then passes Hatton four bottles as Hatton smiles and welcomes the gift. It started as a six pack but Im still trying to find the culprits who drank the other two, Malignaggi joked. :thumbsup
He's not. But he ain't no winner either. I'd rather he had been a ***** and given it all he had for the win than how things actually ended up...
quality. humbled by the result, but still comes across as a nice guy. after all, trash talk before a fight is part of the whole hype
thats good sportsmanship. well done malignaggi, unless he's trying to posion hatton and the blue moon beer is home made.
Fair play to Paulie, also complimented Hatton;s tactics in the post-fight interview. I really wanted him to get hurt after all his trash talk (something I wouldn't usually wish on a fighter) but he got me excited in the fight and showed he's a humble guy afterwards. Hopefully he can get a fight against Bradley or the winner of Torres-Holt. He can still box, but Hatton was just too good for him.
What, me personally? It's hard to say what a person is like from their posts on a site, but anyway, who cares whether he's a nice guy. I don't watch boxing because I want to see nice guys, do I? And who cares whether I'm a nice guy, on ESB? It's whether I contribute anything worthwile or not that counts, right?
Hatton showed class to Paulie post fight. Paulie showed class post fight, complimenting the British fans. Mayweather Sr. showed class, comforting Paulie who was devastated after being stopped. And now this. I'm almost getting emotional, and I really do mean that
I've liked the guy from the Cotto fight, but after last nights performance I hope it was an off night cause i'm not real interested in seeing him fight again.
