I actually said this to someone else, watch the punch, it isn't legal regarding where it lands really, maybe Price should have been given time to recover but imo it was going to happen sooner or later due to Price's approach to the fight and what appears to be poor punch resistance.

Whoever Price fights next, I think its best for all involved that Maloney isn't allowed entry. I dread to think what will happen if the same happens again in the next fight, and IT CAN happen again. "The David Price is the next Audley Harrison" band will start to play a tune. :boohoo

Tony Thompson :**** 'd all over their little early delusional party. Team Price have landed back down on earth with a huge bump. "Heavyweights, this is the sport of boxing, it happens" or not. If David Price goes down to a "punch" like that, I dread to think what will happen when he takes one flush on the chin. Once that chin is cracked, it'll never be the same, same **** will happen with Pacquiao and Chisora. Mark my words.

David Price is not the heir to the Klitchsko throne, he aint even the heir to the Audley Harrison throne yet!

If they throw him in with Tony Thompson straight away, they will be setting themselves up for destruction. If Tony Thompson takes out David Price again, 2 fights in a row, and Tony will be as confident as anybody doing it, you might as well close the curtains on David Price.

If he can't get past Tony Thompson (arguably a level below the Klitschko's) he won't be getting past Vitali or Wladimir. If David Price wants to resurrect himself, he needs to make massive changes now.

1) A world champion needs a world champion team.
2) Fight with common sense.
3) Make similar changes that Wlad had to.
4) Absolutely destroy Thompson in a rematch.

If none of the above are addressed, David Price will fall by the wayside and keep getting stopped. He needs to accept he cant take heavy punches, and change his whole gameplan to make sure that doesn't happen, by keeping it long. He is nearly 7 foot, with massive reach.....make full use of the tools you have! If its boring, its boring. You are here to win, not please.

It will be a real shame if he doesnt make the changes, because he has all the talent and tools to become World Champion.....but does he have the world champion mentality and grit?

Even watching that video,when Bunce pauses it you can clearly see the punch connect with Price's ear for **** sake,the impact was bang on the ear,the follow through made it look as though it was round the back of the head.

 

It was just freak punch if you ask me. I think Thompson got extremely lucky with the effects it had. these punches do occur in boxing, and Maloney just needs to accept it an move on.

He is making himself look a bitter wee man coming out with stuff like that.

 

All boxers get hit on the ear from time to time. I'm sure there's examples of granite chinned fighters getting KO'd by a slap on the ear.

Can anybody think of any?
