To be honest I didnt really know too much about Kovalev other than the fight with Campillo. But even as he stood in the ring before the announcements it looked like a seasoned fighter against a boy. I know Clev is tall but still he didnt look fully developed into the weight. From the 1st second of the fight it was clear the strength , size and boxing skills were with the Russian. It got me thinking when else have I seen this?? Tszyu vs Judah? Hopkins vs Trinidad? others?
Judah got ko'd but he was one of the very best at the time and to call Trinidad a boy is just crazy. Clev did look like a boy against a monster last night.
Yeah looking at it calling Trinidad is harsh , it was more to do with the fact that he simply didnt know what to do against Hopkins that made me look at it that way. Khan vs Prescott is probably a better comparison. Khan being rather untested and Prescott being a seasoned fighter who just hadnt had a big fight.
I'm not sure Judah fits in here, since he had such a dominant first round against Tszyu. Surely this category applies when a fighter looked like he had no business in there from the start.
Yeah I thought the same actually. Rigo vs Donaire looked a little like man vs boy (teacher vs student)
The topic implies that one boxer is poised and in control of every minute of the fight, and dominates his opponent when he wants to because the other guy is not only lacking in every physical category but is also mentally inferior. I actually agree... Hopkins made Trinidad look so clueless that he looked like a lost boy, and Tszyu's commitment and mental strength exposed Judah's immaturity. Another fight that comes to my mind is Morales-Ayala. That was Morales at his best and Ayala didn't have an answer for anything Morales did.
